Same here. They had some good passing games against teams like Kansas. They barely beat Iowa State at home, and they only scored 20 against a TCU team that finished 4-8.

Both of their lines suck. We'll easily out muscle them at the point of attack.

They are currently struggling against UTEP (on Fox Sports, if you want to watch.) Not that UTEP is playing all that great either, but UTEP is leading 6-0 on two field goals at the end of the 1st Quarter.

After watching TT vs. UCA last week, and this so far, I feel better than I was.

However, still think they are going to hurt us on slants against our LB's, particularly with Marquez.

We will roll Tech

They beat UTEP 30-26

UTEP had a 147 yard rusher. As a team they rushed for 277.

UTEP led late, 26-23 but Tech scored with 2:32 left.

Nearly 400 total yards for UTEP

Tech had 15 penalties against UCA, they had 10 last night.

If we do not pummel tech, I will be genuinely concerned about this coaching staff for the first time.

I can understand that. I'm not sold on Segrest yet. I still can't process that our FG kickers have a top end range of 42 yards and our DL recruiting, particularly DE's, hasn't been as good as when Steve Caldwell was here. (Jamario Bell is Lunney's catch).

I'm not sure where the difference in DB's is. I'm concerned about our inability to actually play bump and run, even against Nicholls St. they cushioned 5-6 yards off the LOS and couldn't react in time to the WR routes and cuts when WR were moving full speed the CB's were just starting to move. We can't keep trying to cover SEC WR's that way. Our LB's don't read and react well enough to play zone coverages and when they do they're still a step slow and don't make good tackles when they have a play on a ball carrier.

I don't know if Smith is demanding enough work from the WR's w/ the juggs machines, those dudes probably should have been catching a couple hundred balls a day during the summer. A football Juggs machine only costs $2,000-$2,500 and they're capable of spitting out up to 600 footballs/hour. One every 10 seconds seems to be a pace that could be kept if you had enough WR's and ball boys. It's obvious to me at least that we don't work on the hands nearly enough.

Our Linebackers still look lost and slow. Only new personnel will fix this.

I get frustrated that we don't have a lot of high percentage routes and throws in the offensive playbook. I mean some 1 step drop quick hitter passes in the flat or a bubble screen to a man in motion or kicked out to the H back to get a couple yards or maybe 5 would help the confidence. We seem to run play action and throw vertical with routes that are slow to develop, we can get guys open deep, but giving the QB enough time and picking up the delayed blitz is still a weak spot, so we keep the FB/TB in to block rather than have an underneath outlet in the cleared space.

Philosophy wise it feels that we're not using all the tools available to utilize the weapons we do have. I don't buy that the players aren't ready, install it, and run it. They'll get it, who knows how they'll execute though.

I've watched Tech's games this season, we should beat them if we manage the game well. If we get out coached by Kingsbury and his garbage staff, I'll be ready to start thinking about admitting that Long may have made a mistake.

The only thing that gives me the slightest pause, is that Webb had a pretty shitty game last night. He was off on tons of throws. If he's ON, I could see this being a back-and-forth kinda game where they can't stop us and we can't stop them. Fortunately, it's easier to be consistent running than throwing.

Good luck this weekend, Hog fans.

I think you guys win. Expect it to be close going into the 4th but the run game wears TT out and AR wins by 10ish.

After just watching the first half of the TT @ UTEP game, I'm feeling pretty good about our chances. TT played soft and weak minded in that first half. I'm starting to think we got this boys. I put down a couple bucks on Ark +3. I'm reneging on my initial prediction that we lose in a close one; now I'm feeling a ~10-14 point win. Can't wait for Saturday.
