I agree with everything in the OP..and I'll add this. One play against MSU sums up BA entire career and why I don't see how Peavy and Storey aren't getting snaps with the 1's in spring.

THe play in the first half, we run a great play fake with Keon running a seam route from between the LT and LG. However, Keon trips at the line and is late getting to his route. By this time the DB's had adjusted and he was covered. We needed 2-3 yards for a first down. Instead of trying to make a play, scrabble for a first down, anything...BA let's one fly into double coverage, I'm assuming because that's how the play was designed. At this point BA is not even to the level of being a game manager.

I'd be curious to see how many passes we attempt on out routes. It's gotta be close to 75%. At this point teams are leaving the middle of the field open because they know we can't find the open receiver.

That's fine. They still weren't better than the '10 team.
I'd venture to say the defense in 2011 was better. Neither were world-beaters. The difference was our inability to establish a solid run-game against elite opponents. That's where I think the loss of Knile hit hardest and it showed. DJ was serviceable, but Knile was a monster in 2010.

I'm just curious if our offensive lack of success will ever fall on Jim Chaney's shoulders, or if it'll all be Brandon Allen's fault until he graduates?

Chaney's job is to facilitate the offense. Forgetting all other factors, he's failed at that for almost 2 years now in the SEC. That's the bottom line. Whether his arms are tied by Brandon Allen is irrelevant. They've known what they've had in BA for 2 years. JUCO QBs aren't unicorns.

Look, you can go back to last season and see me bashing the suit out of Chaney....so don't think I'm some "Chaney pumper" of sorts.

It's difficult with Allen at QB. You can see it in the play calling. Now that we've gotten to the meat of our SEC, it's pretty obvious our Oline is still a year away from being that dominant force we want it to be. Not getting in the end zone from 5 yards out on 4 tries falls on their shoulders.

I'm just not ready to give up on Chaney just yet with him having Casey Dick version 2 under center.

Chaney's playcalling is suspect no matter who the QB is. He runs when he should pass and vice versa.
We should have been running the ball on the play-action pass that was called on 3rd and 1 earlier in the State game. The pitch runs at the goal line were bad as well.

I disagree. That was a good call but just terrible execution. We ran a similar play against A&M for a huge TD.

I will agree to a point but I have to disagree with the comment about the Allen's and their fundamentals. I feel like I have a better feel than most here being that I am a coach. Neither has bad fundamentals as far as footwork, ball handling, and delivery.... in fact I'd say both are pretty good. Where Brandon does struggle is weight distribution on downfield throws. in other words his feet and hips are pretty quiet and it appears that he does throw off his back foot when throwing down field. Watch most qbs and it will appear that way. what he does poorly here is that he doesn't change the lauch point with his shoulders which then compounds the problem of his hips not firing on the throw. This usually results in a ball that is too high and overthrown rather than one like Mallet threw.
I will also agree that he doesn't seem to be able to handle complex read progressions. Something that some kids just simply cannot ever comprehend. It may be that it's not being taught well or it may be that he just can't handle it and never will be able to.
anyway...my 2 cents...
