Little Rock can't seem to keep a sports venue going. Why?

So what's with the Little Rock area not being able to sustain a sports venue? Verizon is empty unless it's a concert and what will they do with WMS when football games stop there? I am genuinely curious so I would appreciate the education.

The same thing they use it for the rest of the year. Host Catholic high games and the state championships

Gladiator arena. I'm still working on the details.

Why would L.R. need or want to? UALR plays basketball on campus. There aren't any other colleges of significant size. Dickey-Stephens Park is across the river but it's nice.

Verizon wasnt built as strictly a sporting venue. getting concerts and events was probably the idea anyway.

I get that but they had 2 hockey teams and a football team but they couldn't survive. Why can't Little Rock enjoy sports?

The leagues folded. Hockey had pretty good crowds, considering we had two at once.

Alltel only had the Riverblades, the Glaciercats played in Barton.

The Twisters (football) were doing alright as well. As said above, league folded, just like hockey, not local fault.

This is looking like a monumental task with your follow up questions.

Are you fricking kidding me? First off, both those teams were absolutely horrible. Literally, they were comprised of players like Clint Stoerner, if he were, right now, to go play semi-pro football at 37 yrs old. Not to mention the sorry-arse Glaciercats played at Baron Collesium. I think it was the Razorblades that outlasted the Glaciercats, mostly bc they were playing at Verizon, or Alltel back then. And I actually went to one of those arena league football games and the product was pathetic. The team was all ex-local high school stars who couldn't make in college and lower=-to-mid level college players whose careers never went beyond UCA. Has nothing to do with LR. Dickey Stephens has great crowds night in and night out. LR will pack Verizon for the Hog hoops game in a few weeks. War Memorial when the Hogs were competitive and had real games there always sold out and produced magic.

You all sound like a bunch of young pups who've never lived anywhere other than NWA.

I read this as Buffet initially and my first thought was that an arena size buffet might work in Little Rock.

This would be a first.

And how come everyone is forgetting about the Rim Rockers?

It was what it was, it wasn't supposed to be NFL level football. Folks knew it was 'semi-pro' at best, but it was entertaining and the Twisters were usually very competitive in their league.
I always had a great time at the games.

I've still never understood what the Rhinos were affiliated with.
