Will Cal actually go after the huge portal names like the Stanford French kid? Or keep his focus on 5* freshman.
In the final 4 this year, there was one freshman starting guard.

Quaintance, Fland, Knox, and Richmond could all flip to Hogs according to multiple recruiting talking heads. I'll take it
Quaintance will play 2 years of college ball due to him only being 17 and won't be 19 in time to enter the draft next year.
It would be nice to have a DAWG in the post for a couple of years.

So zero players? Anyone questioning this hire is insane. Calipari is probably the only person we could've gotten that can fill an entire roster and compete next year.
In hindsight, it seems as if Muss intentionally destroyed the roster before he left thinking that he'd leave us with a shitfest to clean up, but he actually just left a clean slate for Calipari to bring in his recruits and retain our portal players he may want. Not to mention the big arse NIL to go get some transfer studs.

I think him allowing fat Ronnie and lil Muss to go and have a free for all with the tiny amount of NIL was more of just a function of what everyone knew.
He was leaving no matter what, well before the season started.
Don't think he's THAT petulant to do anything on purpose but he certainly didn't give a shite.
And all these players being in the portal doesn't mean they've officially left or signed anywhere else. I'm sure they'd all give Cal a look if the the feeling is mutual.

Very doubtful it was intentional as that requires effort and he didn't put much coaching effort this year.

Being I the portal means they have to be invited back, they forfeit their scholly, in theory if no one takes you from the portal you a then left with paying your own way to finish school.
