I have always liked Mike. I support him and think he is a great coach. But I am not sure if he is going to bring back our program like it was before. Do we need to change our style or something? Fast pace basketball is so much fun to watch though.

You couldn't watch every game on TV back then. And if it was on TV it was standard definition. Attendance is down for everything. Why go to the game on a wed night when you can watch it at home. Or go to church and dvr it.

I miss the good old days

I know it makes sense. Maybe for games like this we should lower the ticket prices. And give some out to national gaurd and air gaurd. Or orphanages or something. We could actually probably make more money doing that off concessions and it would help pack the stadium which would help with recruiting ..yada yada yada

Nope. The concession $ for the university is already paid. They sell the rights to 3rd parties. It'll hurt the university when the next contract comes up for negotiations though.

Now I've been saying forever that free tickets or steeply discounted tickets for these snoooooozer games would at least expose the brand to people, but the athletic department people would rather seats go empty than discount a penny because they feel that is more harmful to the brand than just 4,000 people in the arena.

Our LadyBacks lost a tough one last night to a very good SDSU team 76-69 in Brookings.

A little info on SDSU:

For the fourth consecutive year, the South Dakota State women’s basketball team was picked to win the 2015-16 Summit League title

The Jackrabbits continued their run of Summit League success in 2014-15, winning the tournament title and playing in their sixth NCAA Tournament. In the eight seasons since joining The Summit League, SDSU has claimed five regular-season titles (2008, 2009, 2012, 2013, 2014) and won six postseason tournament titles (2009-13, 15).

The defending Summit League tournament champions return eight letterwinners and three starters from 2014-15. A senior class that has the chance to become the third winningest senior class in South Dakota State Division I history headlines the group.

SDSU is should make the NCAA tournament with this senior laden team.

This team looks like one of those early Heath teams right after Richardson left.

We may win a few we shouldn't with Bell and Hannahs going off but a winning record would be a HUGE success with this bunch.

Defensively, we absolutely need to change our style. Full court pressure doesn't work anymore...not like it used to, IMO. Big guys aren't afraid to bring the ball up the court these days, much less a d1 level guard.

I haven't seen anything this year, but my biggest gripes have always been the defensive strategy. Too many times we'd be trapping a guard 50 ft from the basket with a big man, he'd blow by our big, and we'd give up a wide open layup or 3. When it works, great. We get to get out in transition and get an easy basket. But it doesn't work enough for that to be a legit strategy in 2015. It puts too much pressure on your defense.
