Hope that happens in the NCAAs otherwise going to be very tough getting by the first round. +

If we start slow and get down by double digits in the first half in any NCAA Tourney game, We'll lose. Any good team will have the ball handlers and shooters to keep a lead. We don't have enough talent and length to overcome that like we have been able to do against the lower tier SEC teams.

It was the same refs who T' d up Moses last year that took away a victory against Florida.

That isn't true, in fact we played a game not too long ago against a team who didn't have these things and we came back from double digits in the 1st half. They are also going to make the dance.

And then instead of the customary make-up call, they doubled down and called a foul on beard getting the next rebound with a gator falling over his back.

Of course i had to sit through 3 mins of garbage "live look in" so i dont know if that resulted in florida points.

Maybe its because after the last few years I just prepare to get screwed over during away games but that would be one of the last games I would have complained about in terms of reffing. I could just be getting numb though

The refs are the same none are employed by a conference, the venue does change and each crew are trying to be selected to ref games further in the tourney for more pay that is the difference in their performance.

I'm okay with the loss. Florida is a pretty darn good team with some experienced studs at this point.

We shot like shite and still managed to make a decent push near the end. Didn't we get it within 6-8? I'm cool with that

Sometimes, its just okay to admit a team is better and a terrible matchup.

That is the case with Florida and us.

True.

Also: instead of discussing shitty refs, let's discuss the shitty adherence to M2M instead of just starting in a matchup zone. They were talking this morning about our players. How many of them have demonstrated the ability or desire to actually play man on man?

Watkins. Check.
Moses. Half check.

Anyone else? So you have two players on the roster than can play man worth a shite. The rest are clearly far superior in a zone. So GO WITH A FREAKING ZONE!

Credit to Mike for being willing to adapt as much as he has, but go ahead and pull the trigger and just commit to the zone. It's not a failure on your part, CMA. It's a success that shows you can adapt to your roster.

Lunardi drops Arkansas down to a 10 seed for losing at Florida? Interesting...Anyway, 10 seed playing Dayton in Tulsa.

Hogs stay steady in USA Today at a 9 playing 8 SMU in Tulsa. Winner faces Kansas.

Palm(who sucks)still has Arkansas as a 10 but playing 7 Miami out in Sacramento.

He also dropped Florida to a 4 seed.

Xavier lost 6 in a row, still in according to him.

Same thing for Syracuse with an RPI of SEVENTY-SEVEN!

The biggest weakness to a zone is perimeter defense, so if a team is hitting their outside shots (like Florida was) it doesn't help to play more zone.

ACC bias is way worse than SEC in football. 10 teams? Ain't no way they have 10 worthy teams

We did and it left guys wide open on the perimeter. All of our guards need better awareness in both man 2 man and zone.

I'm pretty sure one year the BIG12 got like 8 teams and yeah one year the Big East got 11 teams and two made it to sweet 16. However that was a crazy year. Butler and VCU made the final four and Richmond went to the sweet 16.

This team has been shooting better on the road the last month. They looked respectable in this road loss to a top 10 team. Surprised we would drop in the standings.

Being able to shoot well away from BWA could bode well for our tournament performance.

Got to tighten up our defense though.

Lets be honest here...while I know everyone cannot wait for our next Final Four, we can all agree that isn't what our expectations are for this year or this team.

So lets look at this with a good mind for a second...

I think we would all consider a Sweet 16 appearance to be a great year for this team. I also think a Sweet 16 appearance is a reasonable goal. Basically, we would be evenly matched in the first round with a team of our caliber, or slightly below. If our team performs just as they are capable of, we would move on to the round of 32. In the 2nd round, we would more than likely have to play a bit better, depending on who we play. If we are a 7 or a 10, obviously our chances are better. Playing a #1 seed in the 2nd round just isn't a good draw for this bunch.

I guess what I am saying is...this team has played well enough away from home for us to at least win one game and then hope our seeding sets up to where we avoid a 1 seed in the second round. I wouldn't be upset with a 10 seed and I certainly would be fine with a 7 seed.

Could we get hot? Sure...but realistically, we are watching all of this day by day just to have 2-3 extra games in the tourney. Hopefully we can get that far and have something to build on for the future.

The problem or difference today is the committee loves to stack the deck against teams or intentionally pair teams who have trouble matching up with other teams. Back through the 90s they basically ranked you and filled the ladder from there.

Wichita state had no chance of advancing far a few years ago when the committee bracketed them with strong teams round after round possibilities because they played a weak schedule, they even under ranked badly the Kentucky team that beat them so they would have to prove the deserved to make it to the final four.

It's all about match ups. Florida is a bad match up for us as shown in the 2 games we've played against them.

Our only legit win was vs USCe. Our 2 shitty losses were to Mizzou and Vandy at home, which looms large with the committee vs our quality wins. Maybe you could throw in the loss vs MissStake at home as another shitty loss.

If we get a favorable match up in the in the round of 32, I could see a sweet 16 appearance.

Just don't think this team could get hot enough to beat a team that has size and speed.

The UGA game will be a good test as UGA needs this win more than we do, as far as there Tourney hopes are concerned.

Overall seeding average moved down to 9.08

Houston lost last night, but moved up to RPI #51. Hopefully with another regular season win and a few wins in their tourney, they can get into the top 50 by selection time.

Georgia has moved to #49
