When did High School football drop 4A, 3A, and 2A? Thats where the best football is played at in Arkansas. Its no accomplishment to beat out only 16 teams for a 7A and 6A title.

In 2006. It was (primarily) all about travel issues in the AAAAA conference, I believe. Take the East and South and put them in the "6A" and the west and central in "7A". No more West Memphis @ Springdale type matchups unless scheduled at the discretion of the school.

There was a lot of talk about merging the 6A & 7A into one playoff but I think that faded out about like Ole Miss' season hopes.

So.. essentially the bottom half of the old AA is now 2A, then there are some odd splits the rest of the way up from 3A to 5A.
