This is intolerable. Every sports cast has some smarmy little remark about the Sooners. "Boomer or later", etc...

frick every one of these channels with Fort Smith affiliates.

KNWA for life.

I agree

Who gives a frick about Fort Smith for that matter. Let's spend more time talking about cities with working sewer systems

The only downside of west Arkansas is how close it is to Oklahoma :(

agreed. Why pander to the 1300 viewers in Pocola and Sallisaw?

Then again Hawgball isn't exactly relevant right now.

If only there were other channels to watch, then you wouldn't have to shake your fist at clouds.

Part of the problem is that OU has the best meteorological school in the country so western Arkansas news stations always wind up with weatherpersons who went to OU.

Fort Smith sucks arse.

Everyone from there is basically Oklahoma. It's hardly Arkansas.

You're absolutely correct. It goes farther than that, though. The newspaper gives an inordinate amount of space to not only OU, but the small, backwater, Oklahoma crap towns while giving little to no coverage of the Arkansas schools in the area. Van Buren is by far the second biggest town in the FSMA, but gets very little mention, but Roland, Muldrow, Sallisaw, etc. do. Actually, KFSM(CBS affiliate) will air irrelevant stories from Oklahoma City occasionally. Not stories of national or even regional significance; stories about a small apartment complex with a tree limb hovering over a corner and the manager not having it trimmed and two old ladies concernedit could fall and damage a car(Real story), and OKC Boys Club fundraisers. It's actually irritating as heck.

I really, REALLY, don't miss living in Fort Smith. But I do kind of miss Benson's Grill and Arlie Muck's.

It's really amazing how much the attitude and quality of living in this state varies over 50 short miles.

Matt Jones is from there. Lucas Miller is from near there, as is Tyler Wilson.

There is a large contingent of OU bandwagoners down there. OU football in the Big12 is an easy bandwagon to jump on and stay on. Its a border-town. Siloam Springs is full of Sooner fans, too.

FS is quite pro Razorback. However, the town swells to over 200,000 ppl in the daytime due to its large industrial base and workforce, many of whom are from as far as an hour away(Including west of the state line). The vast majority of Fort Smith news watchers are from Arkansas, however, and damned near all of the paper is circulated within the Arkansas border. I don't understand their insistence on pandering to a few small Oklahoma towns while ignoring Arkansas towns, especially Van Buren.

The NBC affiliate out of Tulsa (KJRH) almost always has a spot for whatever Razorback sport was in season at the time. I'm sure there were lots of OSU, Tulsa Golden Hurricane, and OU fans who were upset about that. As for me I ate it up. I was glad they took a moment to mention the Razorbacks.

I moved down to S Florida last month and haven't even seen a mention of my home state. I come here for my crack addiction. Keep posting the info guys and gals.
