Synopsis? I've been away from TV. Know he was supposed to start, but turned on just in time to see Hoyer throw Hail Mary to end half...

You never never never come out of a game of you're the quarterback.... This situation is exactly why Brady, Manning, etc never let their backups in the game even in blowouts.

A Petrino QB is won't remain a Petrino QB if Petrino isn't there to make him look good.

What happened?
I'm afraid Mallett just isn't ever going to make it.
Obrien is starting to really look like a tool, although neither Mallett or Hoyer look particularly good.
How do you manage to lose to the colts right now?

He took a late hit and got the wind knocked out of him and came out for (what he thought would be) a play, Hoyer came in and played the rest of the game even though Mallett wanted back in.
You could tell Mallett was pissed. He left for the locker room before the half was over

I didn't watch any of the game but he was getting slammed on the more sports board- I guess he looked like a big baby pouting.

Brady/Manning/etc would never get replaced because they are the clear leaders.
but When you're Mallet - the worst completion percentage in the league, tenuous hold on the starting spot - yeah, you don't come out because you have the wind knocked out of you.
The second he walked to the sideline, I was shaking my head at how stupid he was being. I absolutely knew Hoyer would be in for the rest of the game. Would not be surprised if Hoyer is the starter for the rest of the season.

he was playing poorly when he pulled himself out. hoyer makes a few completions, and mallet wants back in. when the coaches didn't put him back you could read his lips 'this is fricking bullshite', then he was clearly frustrated.
he calmed down after that. he did not run into the locker room before the half. he cheered when hoyer completed the hail mary. he just kind of stood on the side and stared without emotion for the second half.

Mallet is screwed. Hoyer was always the choice of the coaching staff and fits the dink and dunk style they want to go with. Ryan got in after much demand from the fanbase and complaining about Hoyer and Mallet not getting a chance. Mallet finally got his chance, and he underperformed. He won't see the field again, imo, barring a Hoyer injury or just absolutely awful play.

Wasn't he 7/10 and had a TD pass dropped that resulted in an interception?

Yea he was playing pretty well.
He's the hardest player ever to root for. I'm pretty much done with him tbh.
Sucks that he still hasn't grown up.

RM still hasn't grown up, He still tries to fit the ball into small windows and most importantly he throws a 5 yd. screen pass at the same velocity as a 20 yd. crossing route.
I wish him luck but he's the same RM that threw the interception against Bama and tOSU. He's not the superman that he thinks he is in his own mind.

ah, my bad. what i remembered was the failed QB sneak and the interception from the prior series, then the failed 'scramble' short of the LOS a few plays before he got hit. his numbers looked fine, but he was stalling out every drive. definitely not doing enough to think he would be safe if hoyer stepped in.

Mallett sucks, I wish he was an all pro but he's not a good NFL QB.

mallett wasn't playing bad at all. that's why he was so pissed. foster dropped a pass that was an INT.
i think what irks me about this whole thing so much is people are using preconceived notions about mallet to justify them taking him out.. "mallet isn't accurate and tries to do this and do that". the thing is, he did none of that last night. he was accurate. the pass right before he got knocked out was on a dime 35 yards down the field. he made good reads.

The fact the Texans are starting Hoyer at 1-4 is a joke. Think what you want of Mallett, but they still have no idea what he can do. It sucks for him, he deserves better.
