Aledo (Texas) Class of 2024 cornerback Jaden Allen has committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Allen, 5-11, 160, went public with his decision on Friday, choosing the Hogs over co-finalists Tennessee and Alabama, as well as previous offers from Texas, LSU, USC, Michigan State, Mississippi State and others.

Allen initially committed to Texas, where his older brother B.J. Allen currently plays defensive back, on December 29, 2021. He de-committed from the Horns on February 25, 2023 and was offered by Arkansas’ staff on March 4 following his first unofficial visit on The Hill.

The junior cornerback returned to Fayetteville last week for the Hogs’ spring game and plans to be back again for an official visit on the weekend of June 16.

Allen was recruited to Arkansas by first-year defensive backs coach Deron Wilson, who is also trying to land Allen's teammate in 2024 cornerback Chris Johnson II. The Razorbacks have hosted Johnson twice so far this spring and are expected to get him back on campus for an official visit, as well.

According to 247Sports, Allen is a three-star prospect, No. 44 among all cornerbacks across the country, and No. 82 overall in the Lone Star State. The industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings have Allen as the 29th cornerback in the land and No. 61 in the state of Texas for the Class of 2024.

With the addition of Allen, Arkansas' 2024 class moves from 25th to 22nd nationally, and from 8th to 7th in the SEC.

Rivals' No. 17 cornerback in the nation for the 2024 class has called the Hogs.

Jaden Allen, a four-star cornerback from Aledo, Texas, announced his commitment to Arkansas on Friday via his Instagram account. He chose the Razorbacks over Tennessee and Alabama.

Allen received an offer from Sam Pittman's program on March 4 while on his first visit to Fayetteville.

Since then, he took another visit to Arkansas to see the football team scrimmage in the Red-White showcase last Saturday and that seemed to seal the deal.

The Aledo native is the second-highest ranked recruit to commit to the Razorbacks in the 2024 class, ranked behind defensive end Kavion Henderson, who is currently the No. 101 player in the nation, according to Rivals.

The 6-foot, 170-pound defender was committed to Texas — where his brother BJ Allen is a redshirt freshman safety — from Dec. 29, 2021, to Feb. 25, 2023.

For Aledo last season, Allen racked up 48 total tackles and three interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown. He helped lead Aledo to a Texas state championship with a 52-14 win over College Station.

Allen's teammate and fellow 2024 cornerback Chris Johnson also visited Arkansas in March and he holds an offer from the Razorbacks.

With Allen's commitment, Arkansas now has six total commitments in the class of 2024, with five of those coming since March 11 of this year.

Aledo (Texas) four-star cornerback Jaden Allen has announced his commitment to Arkansas as the Razorbacks add their first pledge of what is expected to be a huge day for Sam Pittman and his staff.

Allen, who decommitted from Texas in February, said that Arkansas was the first program to reach out following his decision to re-open his recruitment.

Following that, Allen took an unofficial visit to Fayetteville in late March which helped give the Hogs positioning that would eventually lead to him making his commitment on Friday morning.

The brother of Texas sophomore safety Bryan Allen Jr., Jaden Allen committed to Texas just days after his older sibling signed with the Longhorns in Dec. 2021, but he re-opened his recruitment after a pledge of over 14 months.

The 6-foot-0, 170-pound cornerback has starred for a stellar Aledo secondary that already has two state championships to its name during Allen's career, as he has helped the defense in multiple spots in the secondary at corner, nickel and safety, while also dabbling in some offensive work at receiver.

His highest ceiling is seen at corner although his speed and twitch has seen him show some flashes at wide receiver as well. However, his cover skills and fluid movement help make him a potential draft pick in the secondary.

Some improvements could be made to Allen's physical stature as the Arkansas weight and strength program will need to bulk him up to get him ready for SEC play, but once he can compete physically on the field, he will be a dangerous force for what is shaping up to be an improved secondary for the Razorbacks in future years.

At 6-foot-0, 170 pounds, Allen is ranked as the No. 132 recruit in the country for the class of 2024, according to Rivals. He is the No. 22 recruit from the state of Texas and the No. 17 cornerback recruit in the country.

Little Rock (Ark.) Wilbur D. Mills Top247 defensive lineman Charleston Collins announced his commitment to Arkansas on Friday, giving Sam Pittman and his staff a pledge from the No. 2 prospect in the state.

Collins also strongly considered opportunities from Auburn, Georgia, LSU and Oklahoma.

“It was a few different things,” Collins said of his decision to attend Arkansas. “One just the whole vibe and feel of the university, especially with me staying at home, I know that will be big for the state.

“I really want to go to a school I can build my own foundation and build with a group of guys around me, knowing I’ll have the full support of the state behind me. We don’t have an NFL team and stuff like that and I want to be the name and face of my city.”

Collins told 247Sports he’s been silently committed to head coach Sam Pittman and the Razorbacks since Easter.

“One thing about Sam Pittman, that’s my guy, he’s been recruiting me a little over a year now. It’s about the relationships and time we spent together and Coach (Deke) Adams him being the d-line coach we’ve been tied in and having conversations without football.”

Collins looks forward to playing alongside fellow Arkansas commit Kavion Henderson.

“It’s just building,” Collins said, adding he trusts Pittman.

“He’s not building his program based off promises. He said he’s going to give you the facts and ask you if you want to be part of something special. That was a question he asked me, and why go to another state when you can make your own great again.”

Collins is ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 22 defensive lineman and No. 179 prospect overall. As a junior he had 124 tackles, 12 sacks and a whopping five forced fumbles.

“Just the overall culture and the way they develop their players,” Collins said of what he was looking for in a school. “It being a family-like environment. The coaching staff and how the coaches coach.”

Four-star defensive lineman Charleston Collins of Pine Bluff (AR) Wilbur D. Mills announced his commitment to Arkansas Friday afternoon.

The 6-foot-5, 250 pounder chose the Razorbacks over LSU, Ole Miss, and others.

Collins was primarily recruited by Deke Adams and secondarily by Cody Kennedy.

The Arkansas defensive lineman joins coach Pittman and the Razorbacks’ top 15 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by Noreel White, KJ Jackson, and others.

Collins ranks as the No. 203 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 24 defensive lineman and the No. 2 player in the state of Arkansas.

Sam Pittman is putting Arkansas first, and the latest commitment for the Razorbacks justifies exactly that for the Head Hog.

On Friday, Arkansas landed a commitment from On300 defensive lineman Charleston Collins, the No. 11-ranked DL in the nation from right in the Hogs’ backyard in Pine Bluff (Ark.) Wilbur D. Mills High School. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound Collins chose to stay home and play for the Razorbacks over the likes of LSU, Texas, Auburn and Ole Miss, among others.

The Razorbacks have been trending for Arkansas’ top-rated recruit ever since Pittman tabbed Travis Williams to coordinate the defense. Now, Pittman and Williams hold a commitment from the No. 124-ranked player in the country at spring’s end.

“I had a lot of options on the table and I was fortunate enough to see what a lot of different schools had t offer, but there’s nothing like your home state,” Collins told On3.

“Not just the university was pushing for me, but the people and the community,” he continued. “It’s a different type of feeling when you know and you see you have the whole state behind you. I’m gonna be the face and the voice of my state, and that’s something I always wanted.”

Head Hog made Collins a top priority

Being the state’s top recruit mandated the attention of Pittman, who not only recruited Collins but also members of his family along the way.

The Head Hog made his presence felt the most with his actions, which were validated by the players in the program and just about everywhere else Collins looked.

“Since Day 1 there’s been a constant line of communication with me and Coach Pittman,” Collins detailed. “He’s shown me I’m a top priority. He prioritized not only me but my family also. He wouldn’t just call to check on me; he would call my mom every now and then. He has my sister’s number, so he would. text her — small things like that to show me he’s not just looking at me as a player in his program, but as a son or a man.”

“He’s a great guy, fun to be around and he has a few jokes up his sleeve, too,” he continued. “His favorite thing to do is wink, and it’s absolutely hilarious every time he does it. You won’t find many people around here that have bad things to say about Coach Pittman. The players in the program I talked to had nothing bad to say. He’s an honest guy from beginning to end, and he’s someone I feel I can trust and play for. He has a track record of being an upstanding guy — what better place is there to be?”

Williams sparked Collins’ interest in the Hogs

Collins made three trips up to Fayetteville this spring, including a pair of visits up to the Hill in January after the new Razorbacks’ coaching staff was assembled.

New defensive coordinator Travis Williams was quick to make the blue-chip defensive lineman a top in-state priority for Arkansas.

“Coach Williams is an amazing guy,” Collins said. “I wasn’t learning toward Arkansas at first, but when he came in and the vibe he had, on his first day at Arkansas I remember him calling me on my way into school. He put me in a group chat and let me know I was a priority for him on his defense.”

“Anytime I’d go up, we’d sit down and talk football, break it down and he would let me know how I fit into his scheme, his defense and play style,” he continued. “Lot of coaches hype you up, but he took my film and broke it down. He showed me my strengths, what I do best, and my downfalls. He valued. me so much to go through my film and look for good things and find my mistakes, and he showed me how he’d develop me as a player and eliminate those small mistakes.”

Pine Bluff (Ark.) Wilbur D. Mills four-star defensive lineman Charleston Collins held offers from top programs across the country. It turns out he will play college football just under 200 miles away.

Collins announced his commitment to Arkansas on Friday, choosing the Razorbacks over Georgia and LSU. He is Arkansas’ second pledge in-state pledge of the day, following Aledo (Texas) three-star cornerback Jaden Allen.

“It’s home,” Collins told On3. “Me choosing to stay in-state is giving me an opportunity to be the voice and image of my home state. As a kid, everybody growing up wanted to be that man. I feel that me staying home and representing my state and knowing that I have the whole state behind me is going to be something special.”

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound defender is now focused on helping the Razorbacks build their 2024 recruiting class. On3’s No. 1 player in Arkansas believes head coach Sam Pittman and his staff have the program poised to reach new heights.

Collins has noticed how Arkansas is recruiting at a high level and landing players such as 2023 four-star quarterback signee Malachi Singleton. As a result, he believes that the Razorbacks can contend for a national championship in the coming seasons.

“(Pittman’s) building something amazing,” said Collins, the No. 124 overall prospect and No. 12 defensive lineman in the 2024 On300. “In the next two or three years, I know for a fact that everybody will see it. From the family-type vibe to the players being dedicated and happy to be there, he’s a great dude.”

Collins felt like a top priority to Arkansas

Collins estimates he has visited Fayetteville around eight times. While on campus, Arkansas’ staff made him feel like a priority.

“That’s one reason I kept going back: it’s a family vibe,” Collins said. “Everybody knows me, everybody knows my family, everybody knows my siblings. There are no name tags. It’s genuine love from the food, to the people, to the town of Fayetteville itself.”

Razorbacks defensive line coach Deke Adams has been recruiting Collins since “day one.” The four-star shared that Adams checks in with him every other day or every week to make sure he is doing well both on and off the field.

Meanwhile, Arkansas’ head man has also made a great impression on Collins. According to Collins, “why wouldn’t somebody want to play for coach Pittman?”

“He’s an amazing guy, he’s funny,” Collins said. “But when it’s time to be about business, he’s about his business. He’ll joke around with you, play with you, take care of your friends and family.”

The recruiting train rolls on for Sam Pittman and the Arkansas coaching staff, as four-star defensive end Charleston Collins committed to the Razorbacks on Friday.

Collins, who is a product of Little Rock Mills High School, made the announcement via Instagram Live.

The 6-foot-4, 260-pound edge rusher joins four-star cornerback Jaden Allen as recruits who called the Hogs so far on Friday.

Collins has held an offer from Arkansas for over a year, first reporting the Razorbacks' interest on April 16, 2022. He also holds offers from LSU, Alabama, Georgia and others.

Last season for Mills High School, Collins racked up 101 tackles, including eight sacks. He also forced five fumbles and intercepted one pass.

One factor in Collins' recruitment was his believed interest in playing with fellow four-star athlete Crutchfield of Pine Bluff. The two had taken multiple trips to schools together, even visiting LSU as late as Thursday with the Friday commitment date pending.

Collins had at one point been thought to be an LSU lean, as he was on hand when the Tigers upset Alabama in Baton Rouge last season. He — along with Crutchfield — had also taken a visit to Auburn recently, where fans believed their Tigers had a leg up.

“There’s so much that I can say about that visit,” Collins told Rivals’ Adam Gorney after his Auburn visit. “It honestly has been one of my best. I was able to get the full experience of their program, i met with some of the alumni and got an overall grasp of their culture.”

In the end, though, the Razorbacks won out for his commitment.

Collins joins fellow four-star defensive end Kavion Henderson from Leeds, Alabama, and defensive tackle Dion Stutts of Memphis as commitments in the 2024 class along the defensive line.

Make that two four-star commitments on the day for Arkansas as the Razorbacks add a commitment from one of their top targets in versatile in-state pass-rusher Little Rock (Ark.) Mills defensive end Charleston Collins.

Collins, who was heavily courted by a variety of power programs including a handful of SEC West contenders, decided to stay home on the heels of a busy spring visit run that saw him see most of his contenders, including a last minute visit to LSU on Thursday.

However, Sam Pittman and his staff add their top in-state target with his commitment and immediately will have flexibility in the pass-rush game upon his arrival in Fayetteville.

Whether it's lining up as an interior pass rusher or off the edge, Collins has found a lot of success in his high school career getting after the quarterback. As a junior, Collins recorded a whopping 124 tackles including 12 sacks along with forcing one fumble and recovering five fumbles in 12 games. Offensively, Collins also pitched in with 11 receptions for 67 yards.

At the college level, Collins will have the most success off the edge with his combination of athleticism and size. At the Under Armour Dallas camp earlier this spring, Collins walked away with a defensive line MVP honor after getting around and through just about any offensive tackle that was thrown his way. At the next level, Collins should have similar success with his intangibles.

At 6-foot-4, 260 pounds, Collins is ranked as the No. 5 recruit from the state of Arkansas and the No. 25 strongside defensive end in the country.

Pine Bluff (Ark.) Composite four-star wide receiver Courtney Crutchfield has committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Crutchfield, 6-2, 175, went public with his decision on Friday afternoon via a commitment video, choosing the home state Razorbacks over LSU, Auburn, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Oklahoma and several others.

Crutchfield is Arkansas’ eighth verbal commitment for the Class of 2024 and its third of the day, joining 247Sports Composite four-star cornerback Jaden Allen of Aledo (Texas) and Top247 defensive lineman Charleston Collins of Pine Bluff (Ark.). Crutchfield was recruited to Fayetteville by third-year wide receivers coach Kenny Guiton, though several schools recruited him as an athlete who could play offense or defensive back at the next level.

Six of Arkansas' first seven commitments are four-stars according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, which already almost matches the eight that Arkansas landed last year in a class of 20 signees.

According to 247Sports, Crutchfield is a highly-graded three-star prospect coming in at No. 52 nationally at the wide receiver position, and No. 4 overall in the Natural State. The industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings have Crutchfield as a four-star prospect, No. 394 overall, No. 56 among all wide receivers, and No. 5 in the state of Arkansas.

With the additions of Crutchfield and Collins, Arkansas’ 2024 class goes from from 22nd to 14th nationally, and from 7th in the SEC to No. 6, just ahead of Alabama’s five total commitments.

In addition to the new in-state pledges, the Razorbacks’ other commitments include Birmingham (Ala.) St. Martin four-star quarterback KJ Jackson, Leeds (Ala.) four-star defensive lineman Kavion Henderson, Ocean Springs (Miss.) St. Martin four-star athlete Noreel White, Batesville (Miss.) South Panola four-star athlete Julius Pope, four-star cornerback Jaden Allen of Aledo (Texas), and three-star defensive lineman Dion Stutts of Memphis (Tenn.) University School.

quote:

Around a month ago, Pine Bluff (Ark.) four-star athlete Courtney Crutchfield got on the phone with Arkansas wide receivers coach Kenny Guiton. The first thing Guiton asked him about was how his family was doing.

That moment helped elevate the Razorbacks to the top of Crutchfield’s list. On Friday, he announced his commitment to Arkansas.

“The bond with them is different,” Crutchfield told On3. “They stay on me, they stayed hitting me up like every other day. The bond that I have with coach Kenny Guiton, he just set the tone.”

Crutchfield has been to Fayetteville around three times. While on campus, he got a firsthand look at the culture of Arkansas, who finished 7-6 last season with a victory in the Liberty Bowl.

The 6-foot-0.5, 170-pound athlete could quickly sense a brotherhood within the program and felt appreciated by not only the Razorbacks’ coaches, but also their players. Eventually, he figured out that Arkansas would be the best fit for his college football career.

“It was pretty easy because of the bond I had with them and how much they stayed attached to me,” said Crutchfield, the No. 371 overall prospect and No. 18 athlete in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking. “They showed me it’s the place for me to be and I’m there with somebody that really cares about me.”

Crutchfield believes in Sam Pittman and Arkansas’ staff

According to Crutchfield, he first met Guiton in ninth grade. In addition to their longtime relationship, he likes how the Arkansas assistant works with the Razorbacks’ wide receivers.

Overall, Crutchfield was impressed with how Arkansas’ offensive staff operated. He trusts in the vision that head coach Sam Pittman is implementing for the future.

“He’s building a legacy,” Crutchfield said. “He really doesn’t want in-state kids to leave. He’s gonna get it on the right track.”

With his commitment, Crutchfield became the first in-state pledge in Arkansas’ 2024 recruiting class. He joins multiple offensive playmakers, including Ocean Springs (Miss.) St. Martin four-star wide receiver Noreel White and Montgomery (Ala.) St. James School four-star quarterback KJ Jackson.

Crutchfield knew he was pledging to the Razorbacks a little less than two weeks ago. So, he called Pittman on Easter to share the good news.

“He was surprised,” Crutchfield said. “…He’s a good man. He’s gonna look out for you, he’s gonna do what he’s got to do to put you in the right position to be successful.”

Pine Bluff native and four-star wide receiver Courtney Crutchfield has committed to Arkansas.

Crutchfield is the Razorbacks' third four-star pledge of the day, joining cornerback Jaden Allen and defensive end Charleston Collins, who committed just moments before Crutchfield.

The No. 4 player in the state of Arkansas for the 2024 class announced his commitment via Twitter.

The recruitment was not easy for Arkansas, as it is believed Crutchfield wanted to play with fellow Collins, who is out of Little Rock Mills High School. The duo had been courted by some of the best programs in the SEC, and they even saw the LSU campus as late as Thursday, with a Friday commitment pending.

In the end, though, the Razorbacks won out for Crutchfield's commitment. He was first offered by Arkansas on Jan. 21 while visiting for one of its Prospect Days, and he then saw his recruitment skyrocket, picking up offers from Oklahoma, LSU, Tennessee, South Carolina and others. He said at the time getting the offer from the Razorbacks meant a lot.

"A couple of years ago I was wanting that offer real bad," Crutchfield told HawgBeat. "Now that my dream came true, it feels real good in the situation God put me in. And for this predicament to happen like this."

The 6-foot-3, 176-pound athlete took visits to multiple schools with Collins, including two to Arkansas in April. He told HawgBeat following his visit to Arkansas last week what stuck out to him about the Razorbacks.

“I’ve been (at Arkansas) a few times,” Crutchfield said. “It’s just all about the love they have for me and the bonding that we got.”

For Pine Bluff, Crutchfield plays on both sides of the ball at wide receiver and defensive back. Arkansas is primarily recruiting him to play wide receiver.

It's worth noting that Crutchfield also plays basketball for Pine Bluff. He earned 5A All-State honors, 5A State Tournament MVP and he led the Zebras to a 5A State Championship victory over Lake Hamilton in March.

Crutchfield is the first wide receiver commitment in the class of 2024 and he joins Collins as the first two in-state recruits to commit to the Razorbacks in the class.

quote:

Arkansas continues its hot streak on Friday as Pine Bluff (Ark.) four-star athlete Courtney Crutchfield has announced his commitment to the Razorbacks over a handful of SEC contenders.

Crutchfield, who earned four-star status earlier this offseason, has showed potential to play at both wide receiver and safety during his high school career as Sam Pittman will have two-way flexibility as soon as the in-state athlete steps on campus.

Crutchfield took multiple visits this offseason and had SEC programs such as LSU, Ole Miss and Auburn high on his list, but the Razorbacks were able to shut the door before he took any official visits to keep him in-state.

As a junior for the Zebras, Crutchfield was a force on both sides of the ball as he hauled in 17 receptions for 517 yards and nine touchdowns (a whopping 30.4 yards per reception for the non-math nerds out there) offensively while accounting for 30 tackles, three forced fumbles and two interceptions defensively.

Crutchfield's highest ceiling is most likely seen in the secondary where he covers a big range as a safety with his quick twitch, speed and secondary IQ. However, his speed and movement could also lead him towards a bright future on the offensive side as well.

The commitment gives Arkansas its second four-star pledge of the day after this morning's commitment from four-star cornerback Jaden Allen. The Hogs have the ability to add a third later this afternoon from four-star defensive end Charleston Collins, who has been linked to Crutchfield throughout his recruitment. Collins will announce his decision at 2:45 p.m. CST on social media.

At 6-foot-3, 176 pounds, Crutchfield is ranked as the No. 4 recruit from the state of Arkansas and the No. 24 athlete prospect in the country.
