Any chance we go after the tight end from A&M who just entered the portal? Former 5 star but has a history with injuries

Nebraska defensive lineman Casey Rogers

This comes as a very surprising development, as Rogers was poised to potentially start and see a lot of snaps for the Huskers depleted defensive line in 2022.

A year ago Rogers battled an early-season injury and only played 139 snaps, compared to 243 in the shortened 2020 season.

Over his career, Rogers played in 23 games with one start coming in 2020. He saw eight games of action in 2020 and seven in 2021.

In 2021, Rogers finished with 17 tackles, three tackles for loss and .5 sacks in seven games.

In 2020, he had 25 tackles, three tackles for loss and one sack in eight games.

We could. We have a ton, and I do mean a ton, of talented TEs coming in but he could be a nice bridging player. Honestly with what we have signed right now I don't know if I would transfer in unless I was a senior at TE.

Former Arkansas State defensive lineman Terry Hampton has committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks. Hampton, 6-0, 293, went public with his decision on Sunday, just five days after reporting an offer from the Hogs and several others.

Hampton announced his decision to transfer from the Red Wolves on April 15. He made his decision on Sunday after wrapping up an official visit with the Hogs.

"I feel like they're doing something special here, especially going into this year,” Hampton said. “They're looking for a few changes on defense and I feel like I would be a great fit."

Hampton’s first offer came from Houston defensive line coach Brian Early, who originally recruited Hampton to Arkansas State out of El Dorado (Ark.) in the Class of 2018. Arkansas was second to offer, followed by Utah State, Oregon State, SMU, Western Kentucky, Illinois and Texas Tech.

In four seasons with the Red Wolves, Hampton totaled 61 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and a pass break-up in 36 career games played.

He was recruited to Fayetteville by defensive line coach Deke Adams.

"Great coach, man, great coach,” Hampton said. “I can feel the energy being around him. I can tell he really knows what he's doing."

Playing for the Hogs was a lifelong dream of Hampton's.

"Yes, I did. It was a goal of mine coming out of high school, but things unfortunately happened with my injury and all, but that was the goal," he said.

The defensive lineman is Arkansas’ seventh incoming sholarship transfer of the offseason, joining wide receiver Jadon Haselwood (Oklahoma), defensive end Landon Jackson (LSU), defensive end Jordan Domineck (Georgia Tech), linebacker Drew Sanders (Alabama), cornerback Dwight McGlothern (LSU) and safety/nickel Latavious Brini (Georgia).

The Razorbacks also added former South Florida quarterback Cade Fortin as a walk-on at the beginning of the year. After landing Hampton, the Hogs are still expected to be on the market for another defensive lineman and a wide receiver in the transfer portal.

Not exactly the John Ridgeway type I'd say.

That's one way to slow down the run game.

I'm sure he was added for depth reasons and not for a big impact.

He's going to need to play with Taurean Carter out.

Some say he's legit 6'0" though and Jaxon Player was really 5'10" when he visited.

Doesn't sound good when coach is asked and “We’ll just have to wait and see on him." is the answer.

Probably a role player but we need those. Besides you never can tell when someone might bloom with a new coaching staff.

He sounds like a kid that always wanted to play for the Hogs and now he's getting a chance. That usually means he'll go all out and for someone coming in here and there that is a good thing. We can get by with him coming in ten plays a game and going balls to the wall while a starter rests. And if he turns out to be really good so much the better.

Pittman and company are looking at the big boys right now. The SEC, more than any conference, is won in the trenches so I'm all for it.
