Ignorant. Not like people dont drive the 15 mins across the state line to buy cheaper tobacco anyways. When I lived there I used to get my tobacco in Springfield.

This is about as bad as when they "burried racism". Glad the school is getting kids involved, but they are still kids, not adults.

HARRISON, AR -- Starting in January of next year, if you're under age 21 you won't be allowed to buy any tobacco products.

The Harrison, Arkansas City Council passed the ordinance with a unanimous vote last Thursday.

The initiative called "Tobacco 21" is a nationwide effort.

quote:

The group in Harrison behind the law is called "Ignite", and it includes a group of Harrison High School students - who went before the city council a couple of weeks ago with their concerns about tobacco use among their peers.

The students are supported by North Arkansas Partnership for Health Education and the Boone County Substance Abuse Coalition.

If there's one thing Harrison's known for, it's definitely underage smoking.

It has to start someone. I never understood why people smoked anyway.

Give it about another 20 years of decline and you'll see West Coast States ban it entirely. Legal weed but not cigs.
