Someone’s off screen to the bottom left. Hopefully that’s one of them.

Gabe needs to come off the bench and get about 8 minutes a game.

Yeah I mean Musselman’s offense puts an emphasis on making high percentage shots a priority. That may limit Gabe to taking shots of Gatorade on the bench.

One good thing about this hire is we are not going to make as many changes to what we do as what we would have had to with a Beard. Muss likes to get up the court, space it out and attack.

Really he just needs to teach a much tougher defense. Cut down on or eliminate all that trapping. And freaking recruit non-stop. Not just when you find a kid who happens to just want to be a Hog. That and in game adjustments should be enough to make us a top 25 team pretty soon. I'd like to know who if anyone he may be bringing in to play this spring.

I like the hire. Beard was a no go after TT deep run. Never liked Marshall that much. He's content where he's at. Don't want that. Sampson is old and been as far as he's gonna go. Son as CIW? Hell no. I like Musselman's style of play and it fits the talent we have on campus. I was pissed we waited too long on Mike and missed a chance at Beard, but hopefully in a few years we'll forget all about that.

I'd like to see a basketball recruiting thread to see who all he will be bringing in to help this team.

I just posted on tRant in regards to a question about Marshall.

I replied saying that I am happy who we got over Marshall. I said this because I am thinking that Marshall is afraid to play at a higher level, or that he is comfortable there being secure and having his name always come up resulting in salary increases.

Anyone else feel this way?

Nevada was a favorite for a top 20 2020 recruit, so maybe Miss can get him to visit here

Memphis is the only other "warm" team listed so that's probably a good thing, cruise on up here.

I haven't had time to chime in yet, but I have read all of the Naysayers and disagree completely.

For the record, I am ecstatic.
1. Beard- yes, but not even possible for anyone at this point. Tech will keep him until TX or possibly even after.
2. Sampton, Heck NO! Not with the HCIW crap and even then. Dude was older than we need at this juncture.
3. Marshall, love the dude, mean as nails, his wife would have been an added attraction. (Ashley Judd would meet her match quickly) But, he is a Weenie and afraid to compete, wants too much control and money.

Muss is the complete coach other than perhaps recruiting, but I think he will do well there even. He understands the schematics of coaching, game planning, social media, and bringing a level of excitement we haven't seen in forever. He is very animate towards the officials, and tough on players when he needs to be. He is a COACH through and through.

Happy in our decision. WPS!

So from piecing things together it sounds like this was the way things played out.

Sampson was first on te clock. Lost on Friday, and got new offer over the weekend. His sons status kept him at Houston. HY talked to him Monday morning.

Monday night Muss was flown in, saw the facilities, and was interviewed.

Tuesday HY presented it to the board and one had concerns over things he had heard about Muss, and some wanted to hold out for Beard.

It became evident Beard was no longer an option during the week and more so last night so negotiations began with Muss.

At 8:00 this morning HY was on a plane from Fort Smith to Reno to pick up Muss to finish things up.
