I feel pretty bad for Speaker Davy Carter. Guy finally gets a majority of his party in the house, gets named speaker, and has to more or less harangue his fellow representatives IN PUBLIC to introduce any legislation on jobs or the economy.
I got a feeling the next republican primary battle is going to be a mess.

I Thought I heard something about UCA possibly getting moved to D1 back in like '05 or '06 what ever happened to that?
They did, they moved to D1-AA. Then the NCAA changed the names of the classifications.
D1 = FBS, D1-AA = FCS.

I would say CSB, but I legitimately found that interesting.

When Broyles took over, we stopped playing lower division schools, you have to remember there was only D1 and DII, no D1-AA at that time. This policy held true and left out stAte until the 90s when we moved the the SEC and some where along that time the NCAA split the D1 into two divisions, and Broyles allowed scheduling of one D1-AA school however many years that it would allow to qualify for bowl purposes.
stAte never really had a problem except during their "good years" which was once in the mid-70s or unless Arkansas was really down which was in the early 90s. When Arkansas was good or they were bad you never heard from them wanting to play. Right now they are having good years and we just had a bad year and what do you know, they want the game ASAP.
We have played them in basketball, in the NIT in Nolan's 2nd year and some other time in women's basketball, both times they have shown a series isn't a good idea. They have tried to start fights with players during the game, burnt the state flag during the game, etc. They have made the bama/barners antics look sane and civil during these two meetings.
We tried to work out a deal to help them in basketball back in the early 2000s hosting a "double header" in verizon areana in north little rock hosting OSU and Oklahoma, it didn't make it past the first year as they couldn't hold up their end financially and we had to buyout the deal which lead to us playing OSU there two more times and lead to our current home and homes with OU.
stAte also tried to steal our "thunder" by hosting Okie state in WMS but couldn't afford the rent we pay to play there and the series ended sooner than planned.
So what do they want? Everything they've tried in the past while we foot the bill and they pay nothing, all the perceived rewards for free.
Their fans also think we are suppose to help elevate them above sunbelt conference status every time conference expansion talks heats up due to some conspiracy theory involving Broyles they have where he "kept" them from reaching university status back in the 60s-80s.
Basically, their fans and alums are batshit crazy.

Some one can fact check all of it, just what I've gathered from the research I've done.
Also what they perceive as Broyle's "keeping them down" is when Frank was first hired once of the first things he did was schedule some games in Little Rock, part of the reason for this was so night games could be held as RRS didn't have lights until the 80s/90s sometime in there the other part was how difficult it was to reach Fayetteville until the past 10 years. This made sense at the time, and we've seen the Little Rock games be scaled back.
The biggest deal was Frank gave away broadcasting rights to the games, that meant that every time the Razorbacks played you could listen to the game anywhere in the state where before you could hear it in Fayetteville on maybe one or two stations and LR on one or two stations and maybe a couple other stations, if you were lucky, when Frank gave it away I guess the stations saw no need in broadcasting stAte, Tech, UCA, etc games as they had to pay for the rights to do so. This was smart on his part and made the brand a state wide brand and created the one state, one school vision he saw when he first took the Mizzou job as a stepping stone to Arkansas.

It has been my experience that the typical Arkansas State alum/student constantly compares everything about their school and town to UA and Fayetteville.
They can't help themselves.
Whereas the typical Arkansas alum/student barely considers Arkansas State, if at all.

I watched one of their home games this year, it was on a Tuesday or Wednesday night during one of the best seasons they have had on the FBS level, so much going for the program, on ESPN2, etc.
All the signs shown on TV were centered around the hogs.
