I hope he lives up to expectations this year. Whoever is our QB will need Howard to make that big jump this year.

I'm not sure he has the attitude nessessry. Id love to see a mean steak from him. Talk a little shite. Throw a couple blind side blocks. I feel like he plays smaller than he is.

Who's behind him on the depth chart?

No. If anything Saban needs to bring down harsh punishments for shite talking. I'm talking suspensions. Easy way to spot the thug players. We don't need that here. Bama shouldn't have to talk shite, dominate them and never say a word. That'll destroy their confidence in playing the Tide.

I don't even know off the top of my head. So he has no one pushing him for playing time and he should be an offensive leader for this team that lost so much at receiver. If he doesn't step up and produce this year, I wouldn't even draft him if I were an NFL GM.

I get what you are saying ABDIW, I would just like to see some fire and toughness. I want him to be the leader he should be on this team. You are right he doesn't have to talk shite to show that.

Here is the deal with OJ:

1. he believes his own hype. he's a bit entitled and has been for awhile.

2. he's never been committed to being a badass blocker. even in HS when he was bigger than most of the other kids, he didnt love beating up on kids

3. he doesnt fight for the ball and he doesnt use his body well. he says he wants to be like Tony Gonzalez but he needs to go back and watch some of Tony's tape.

IMHO, he needs to put on 10 pounds or move to WR. his body is still developing so maybe he'll show some good gains. but being physical isnt all about how big you are, it's more about how tough you are.

1. You're full of shite. You couldn't possibly know that and you aren't him anyways so you don't know what he's thinking.

2. Once again you're making disingenuous assertions regarding his mental state which you only have developed an opinion of based on some of his on the field play. Different situations; different roles.

3. Agreed.

Ask his coaches; they'll tell you the same thing.

He has been very underwhelming to this point and that is putting it mildly. Can't believe he is already a junior.

He's the biggest disappointment for me in the last several classes. He had (and still has) the ability to change the way a TE is used in the SEC.

Think a Hernandez/Evans hybrid with more speed and height. Either he don't have the marbles for it or he's not working hard enough to get the opportunities.

Flame if you want but I go by what I see.

I hope so. He's been soft as tits his first 2 years on campus. Your classic "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane" player.

Talking shite doesn't necessarily equate to being a thug bro... Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Tom Brady, Joe Namath, some of the GOAT talked mad trash and thug isn't a word that comes to mind when we think of those names... Talking trash and playing within the rules are NOT mutually exclusive concepts.. It's called having an edge and attitude... IMO that's something that we haven't seen the last few years...

Spot on assessment here. Barrett Jones talked smack on the field. Is he a thug?
