We won 2 NCs between the 3 of those players.

The other 4 were Mcelroy, McCarron, and Coker.

That's a good point, but McCarron was considered an elite/blue-chip player out of HS and was an elite college QB who played many years on NFL rosters. I would group him more with the others guys than with McElroy and Coker.

Yeah I'm not concerned really. If the rumors are true about being more run-oriented, that's the best gift we can give to both our offense and our defense. We have the talent to do it

Personally since I haven’t seen Milroe take a meaningful snap since the A&M debacle and Ty Simpson hasn’t really run the offense in a serious situation his entire career I’m keeping my mouth shut until I see A-Day.

Milroe has the skills to be an AA in the right offense if he’s elevated his game, but he wasn’t a winning level SEC QB in his opportunities last year so lots still to prove.

We know absolutely nothing about Simpson so unless someone has been to the scrimmages anyone talking about him is just speculating.

I believe either one of them will need a better curated offense and a much improved OL to win a championship given the competition we will be facing next year, but that’s a separate conversation.

I know that people will disagree with me, but its not like the offense was just straight up dogshit last year in the Arkansas ad TAMU games. We put up 59 points in 6 1/2 quarters with him at QB, and it would have been more without the turnovers, which can definitely be fixed.

Frankly, he looked better to me in the Arkansas game which is sort of surprising as he had an entire week to prep as the starter fro TAMU. We were very lucky to win that game, and frankly 24 points at home against a 6-6 type team aint gonna cut it most years.

I don't think that TAMU's defense was as bad last year as it seemed. They have 4 or 5 star talent, and their offense was so bad last year I think that it made their defense suffer. And on the flip side of your comment, they had a week to prepare for a green QB, and God knows how long Jimbo had their D preparing for our offense.

You’re still lobbying for Ty. I said we need someone who can take a hit, be a threat running the ball, and have zip on the ball. That is what Alabama needs at qb in my opinion this year to keep defenses honest and out of the 2 qbs that are competing JM fits that description more than Ty. Tomorrow we will know a little bit more. Probably more about jalen’s improvement because since he will be wearing a black no contact jersey, if he takes off and runs every chance he gets I don’t think any Bama fan would great about our future with him under center.

I'm no QB expert, but Simpson can run (not as well as Jalen, but still) and just by watching some practice videos, Ty seems to have more heat on his balls than Jalen does. We will know more after Saturday, but some of the reasons you think Ty isn't the guy are simply untrue.

You've heard the story about the young banker who was taking over for a banking legend? Young banker goes to see his predecessor and says, "Sir, I am new at this and you are a legend. Can you give me a word of advice?"
Old banker says, "Son, two words: GOOD DECISIONS." Young man says, "Thank you sir, but how does one go about making good decisions?" Old dude says, "Son, one word: EXPERIENCE." Young guy says, "Pardon my questions, but, how does one come about this experience?" Old guy says, "Two words... BAD DECISIONS."

How many points did Bryce put up against a 6-6 Auburn team the year before. It’s not like we scored a lot of points all year. How many points did Bryce put up against Texas? Texas A&M had a more talented defense than both of those teams. Although Milroe had some bad turnovers he had three touchdowns and several touchdowns through the air.

I am honestly more frustrated at the fact that we are now hearing that the qb’s haven’t made much progress, no one is stepping up, and we may grab a qb out of the portal. These guys were both very highly rated and committed to Bama. How could you not seize this opportunity if you were in that position. I am pulling for someone to step up. Maybe it’s the #3 and #4 guys on the roster. Saban has mentioned the “entire qb room” a couple times this spring. And then add to it that Ty was seen moping around after not getting to play in the sugar bowl, which may have burned his redshirt and is just selfish knowing that Bryce Young played in that game and that was his send off party.

Counterpoint, we had a highly experienced OC who coached a player to a heisman and the #1 overall pick.

Wrong. BY did that in spite of BoB.

I mean, before this week we had heard plenty of talk about how Milroe has made a lot of progress and was separating himself from Ty. I guess it just depends on what you believe.

Nobody with any real knowledge of the situation has said anything of the sort.

Arkansas had the 54th ranked FEI defense and no time to gameplan for a mobile QB, of course he looked better against them. Arkansas outside of Sanders was a dumpster fire defensively and I’m convinced Bryce could’ve thrown for 500 yards had he stayed healthy.

A&M had the 30th ranked D and I’m sorry but that was an absolute train wreck performance and to me an indication of what other teams would do against him if they know he’s the guy moving forward and can takeaway his easy reads and running game.

He had 200 yards total offense, 3 scores and 3 turnovers (could’ve easily been 5) and put up 24 points against a a mediocre at best defense.

Again, I think he could be an all-American if the passing game evolves, but there are plenty of reasons to be skeptical going into the season about where his game is right now.

Its kind of crazy, but we haven't had a true QB battle since 2016. You could say that Tua and Jalen battled it out, but no one really thought that Jalen wouldn't be the starter before the 2017 season, and everyone pretty much knew that Tua would be the guy in 2018.

I’m not lobbying for anyone. I simply said that lining a guy up in the right spot when he is not in the right spot is literally the QBs job. It is a good thing; not something to dismiss. I think Ty could be a great QB. However, I want the guy that gives us the best chance to win the game. If that is Jalen, I’ll cheer for him just like I did Bryce, Mac, Tua, and the OG Jalen. I’m just not going to dismiss a young QB for getting his guys lined up.

I honestly believe that he's looked "next door" at his protege and had a rude awakening of sorts.

He realized his formula still works. For Georgia.

I think he overreacted to Malzahn, Freeze, Manziel, et al.

Whether he has the time or wherewithal to put it all back together remains to be seen. This team has been finesse oriented for some time now.
