I’ve never seen a player be so good at home and struggle so much on the road.

Perplexing

A lack of mental toughness, would be my guess.

He's young and having confidence issues. He not only struggles to shoot, he makes poor decisions and passes.

no he does not suck. No it's not because of lack of mental toughness... I think something is going on with him that's affecting his performance on the road. I've coached players where they would play well on certain courts, and then they would struggle week later. Petty is used to having folks cheering for him at home and on the road when he was in HS. College is completely different and he's struggling to adjust to that. Just let him deal with it and he'll be fine.

Why downvote it when I shared with what he might be experiencing... People can be a prick at times...

I want to preface this by saying that I don't know petty at all and I am in no way accusing him of what I'm about to mention.
When professional players play poorly consistently on the road you often hear that they party to hard on the road. Just a thought not an accusation.

Dude looks like he's a heavy smoker, that's for sure. Maybe can't get the hook up on the road????

He has honestly not lived up to the hype at home or away outside of one or two games. Don't know if it's because he is not being as assertive as a shooter because he is just waiting for Sexton to do his thing or if he just goes into a multi-game slump but he is capable of much more than he has shown this year. Hopefully he puts it together down the stretch.

I've been surprised by how poor he is at dribbling. It looks like it takes a lot of effort for him and he is out of control driving to the basket. If he isn't catching and shooting he really doesn't have a plan

Not directed at anyone in particular, but it’s important to remember that these guys are still amateurs and that sometimes personal issues affect on the court performance. From what I’ve heard JP needs more of our support these days and less of our criticism. I’ll leave it at that. RTR

Mental toughness can help you deal with all the noise on the road.

Charvez Davis, although Petty is much more talented.

Definitely. Tons of pressure and expectations for such young men. Some definitely handle it better than others, some thrive under pressure. I’m not counting him out just yet.

My biggest question is why the team looks so different when Sexton is on the floor.
Against auburn last night -20 with CS +1 without CS that’s perplexing! I have several theories but your guess is as good as mine.

What a-hole would downvote someone for pointing out that it's easy to forget what a kid might be dealing with. Miserable mf'er

The team seems to want Sexton to do everything. There are times it seems like everyone just watches him instead of staying involved with the play. It's head scratching for sure, and it's insane to think we could lose a lottery pick and still be a better team overall next year.

God we have some heartless pricks that call themselves fans. Gongora is usually pretty in the know and if JP is going thru something he needs support. Doesn't need speculation such as "dude looks like he smokes alot". Really man? Stereotype much?

There are a few that get through the cracks, just ignore them. They are the ones that never have anything meaningful to add anyway. Just useless trolls.
