Actually TCU would jump to #4 next week with a win.

This weekend we have:

#3 vs. #4. If AU wins on the road I could see them moving to #2 possibly but either way one should be sitting at #3 the other with 2 losses will probably drop 7 or 8 spots. Leaing a spot for someone to move up.

#5 Oregon plays home against unranked Stanford
#6 Alabama does not play
#7 TCU plays at #20 WVU

If TCU wins no way they do not jump both UA and Oregon. And yes we beat WVU but on a neutral field not on the road. And right now our only quality win is against that WVU team where TCU also beat OU who is currently ranked in the new poll. Their resume(body of work) will look better. Sitting home this week will not help us in regards to the CFB committee.

You keep saying things are fact when no one knows what the committee will do. They may place more emphasis on being conference champion and if us and OM win out, OM would be ahead of us. What if Michigan State, FSU, TCU, and Oregon win out? Those are your conference champions. We won't know if that'll actually hold precedence over who they actually think is the best team until the final rankings. That's why guys like Cecil Hurt expect this whole process to be a sham. It's just moronic to say things are indisputable when no one knows what's going to happen.

What's indisputable is what they have already said and done. By taking Texas over Penn State in their mock, they already said that SOS trumps a conference champion. By ranking Nebraska and Ohio State so low, they already said that they have no respect for the Big Ten's SOS...highlighted by the fact that the Big Ten has lost virtually every Power 5 OOC game they've played this year...including against crappy teams like VT. We can both speculate...but my speculations are based on everything they have said and done to this point. Yours aren't.

For beating a team that we've already beaten...that's only ranked #20? No way in hell. We'll see, though.

At least you've now backed away from your indisputable facts.

ETA: I can't locate what the top 4 was for the actual committee when they practiced back in August. I can only find what the media members did for their mock decision earlier this month.

No for having a better resume after Saturday so yes and the committee has already shown that matters. We sit home and do not play, they do. But we will see and to be honest I hope they do not win and WVU destroys them in the process.

TCU should and I suspect will jump into the top 4 with a win. They've got wins over Oklahoma and West Virginia compared to Alabama just having WVU as the quality win.

I understand the motivational angle and Bama needs to win out anyway to be assured a spot.
Even though there will be years a 2 loss team gets into the playoff, probably before it changes.

But I'd much rather Bama was ranked #1 than #6.
There's more room for error with the higher ranking.
Plus the answer to the trivia question will always be FSU, Aub and two Mississippi teams.

If we were undefeated that would be ideal, but we aren't. Being ranked #6 is great because this team needs that extra motivation to prove their doubters and detractors wrong.

I hope you're wrong about that, anyway.

like you said Bama has to win out whether we are #1 or #6. But if there is more than 3 1 loss teams(assuming FSU stays undefeated) it will a lot better beating two teams ahead of us then 2 teams behind us to the committee.
