Pretty good video series from al.com highlighting the current whereabouts of former Alabama players. This particular video features the first QB of the Nick Saban Era: John Parker Wilson. While most of us will always dig him for his frat boy mentality while a player in Tuscaloosa, it can't be denied that his leadership was instrumental in 2008. Without him I don't think we have the successful season that we ended up having. Sure...he wasn't the most talented QB we have ever had, but he helped lay the foundation for the seasons that followed.

I like JPW's analysis and breakdowns they post on AL.com. He is really good at that....I thought he was pretty good and more talented than GMac and as talented as Coker. We could have won a title with him for sure if he had more time with Saban.

JPW aka the human turnover machine.
Bama won despite him in 08, 10 TDs vs 8 ints in 08.

Stats don't tell the full story of a QB's game.

John Parker does a good job on those AL videos. I think he's better, more natural and less "TV broadcastery" than McElroy is.
He was a tough arse dude.

They interview him on the Opening Drive here in Birmingham sometimes, and I am always impressed by his knowledge but never impressed by his presence. It always sounds like he's just a touch too far away from the mic, and his inflections are strange.

He was a fumbling machine when sacked.

True, but the 08 team was a solid QB away from being elite.
I think JPW is the worst of the starting QBs under Saban.
That OL in 08 was outstanding, they could pretty much run on anybody. A solid passing attack, would have made them unstoppable.

Similar to Hurts

Hurts also racks up fumbles because he's a running QB. DT QBs usually have a lot of fumbles.

When Nick Saban and Co. produced an undefeated SEC regular season with John Parker Wilson, I knew we were in good hands.

He could take a hit! Never wad gonna be a world beater, but the o-lines never really helped him out.

JPW had the hottest mom of the Saban era QBs.

JPW's youngest brother Peyton is a standout on Hoover's team and is committed to play at Alabama. He's only a sophomore, though, so he's a long way from college baseball. Good infielder - probably going to be a 3B or 2B - who switch hits.
