The last time we knew this thing could get ugly and we'd be on the receiving end....?

2000? When we were just terrible in general? 2004? Undefeated Auburn was #2 and going up against a 6-4 Mike Shula Tide. (and the game ended 21-13, so not exactly an arse-kicking).

Other than that, I can't come up with the last time we were vastly under matched against that school down the road.

Most miserable Iron Bowl of my life. Cold, rainy, and painfully boring. Lost 9-0.

ETA: We were preseason #3 and promptly lost to UCLA in the opener. God Mike DuBose was fricking terrible.

Tubs had some talented D's. Not sure why it went south for him.

The worst part was that they didn't kick the final field goal until the very end, so there was the slight chance we would get a quick TD to take the lead.

Pretty obvious why it went south for him: Saban

Tuberville had it easy. With UA on probation and changing coaches every year, he had his pick of instate recruits and as long as he beat Alabama, the natives were happy. He got complacent and as soon as Saban arrived at UA, it backfired. While Tuberville was out duck hunting, Saban was recruiting.

As for the last time we were assured of a loss in an Iron Bowl, it had to be 2000. Other than that, many thought they would wipe us out in 2001. It is amazing how when they beat us, it by a TD or less. When we beat them, its an arse-kicking.

Turned out to be the most profitable game in Alabama history, IMO.

There have been several occasions where it looked likely Auburn would blowout Alabama based on the records but it just doesn't seem to happen.

Auburn can't seem to majorly blowout Alabama, even in years they are good and Alabama is way down.

Just count the number of double digit wins over the past 30-40 years, or the number of 21+ point absolute blowouts.

Still pissed Shula accepted a personal foul penalty on Bama's first TD to go for two even though we trailed 14-9 in the 2nd quarter

2004 for sure. They came in undefeated, we came in 6-4 with Spencer Pennington at QB. We played well in the first half, but as was typical for Shula coached teams, we couldn't put it in the end zone.

That game was so damn frustrating. We dominated them in the first half but couldn't score a damn TD.

This. We sometimes have our close wins over Auburn, but it's also not unheard of for us to beat them by 20-40 points. The last time Auburn beat us by more than 10 points was in 1969. Seriously let that sink in.

That is some pretty hard evidence of the big-brother/little-brother nature of this rivalry. Bring this up in tRant though and Aubs act like it means nothing.

That's because in their own delusional little barn mind, it doesn't count unless they're a 9+ win team
