I was reading an ESPN article about the betting lines, and it says Bama has been favored in 95 out of the past 96 games, which is a pretty specific number If my cursory calculations in my head are right, that stretches back to the end of 2009. I assume UF was favored in the SECCG that year, which would make good starting point for the above-mentioned stat, but I can't think of a game Bama wouldn't have been favored. They were favored against LSU both times in 2011. Favored against all their post-season matchups as far as I can figure. The UGA SECCG, maybe? AU 2010?

Though...by game time, the line was a pick 'em.

By kickoff of that game we were favored.

So it wouldn't be that game, I assume. It only makes sense to say Bama wasn't favored if they still weren't favored at kick-off.

The last game Bama was an underdog at kickoff time was the 2009 SEC Championship vs Florida.

UGA opened as a favorite last year, but by game time Alabama was favored. So it's really up to how you word the question.

Alabama opened as the favorite in 95 of the last 96 games

Alabama was the game time favorite in 96 of the last 96 games.

Bama didn't open as a favorite against LSU in the national championship in the rematch. They were around a 3 point underdog, by the game they were about a 2 1/2 favorite.

Bama was the favorite in like 60 something straight games starting after the 09 SEC Championship Game until the Georgia game last year when they opened as a underdog but was a pickem by game time.

I would say so. This tells me everybody wanted the Bama underdog action to the point they shifted to the favorite. Same with UGA. Their experts originally thought underdog, but the folks betting were saying Roll Tide.

Maybe that's what they meant, then. Strange way to put a statistic. It would take only one bettor to make any team favored for all of a millionth of a second before the rest moved the line.

I'm pretty sure Alabama was a dog in more places than not at kickoff of the UGA game. Money flooded in VERY late, but i don't think it was enough to keep the streak going.

I think it was a pick 'em at most betting sites. I know Bovada had Bama at -1 by kickoff. Made some dough on it.

On 5 dimes, it had also shifted from UGA favored to Bama slightly favored by kickoff.
