Just a few bad recruiting cycles or what?

Not really much of a talent dip, but we're missing consistency. Right now, we only have 1 guy ranked in the top 50- sophomore Davis Riley with only 3 top 10 finishes. Robby Shelton went pro after last year, when we had a realistic chance of winning it all. Right now Riley (S), Hodges (JR), and Hardee (JR) are caring the team, shooting around a 71-72. Dru Love has been dealing with some lingering injuries as I've been told. Not sure what it is, but he was a senior and was definitely expected to be a contributor.
Nothing's wrong with either golf programs though. Women's is doing great, despite not winning the SEC Championship. We have 3 girls (Stephenson, Knight, and Gillman) that rank in the top 53 for birdies. Those 3 girls help Alabama rank in the top 20 for birdies, subpar strokes/rounds, and pars per round. A shorter way to say this: the women's team is definitely a contender to win its second national title.
I'm pretty confident as long as Jay Seawall is the coach, we'll always be in contention to make it out of the regionals and compete in the NCAA Championships (which starts May 15th). He's gotten some really talented guys to come through here. If you want, here is our committment list.
Also note, those national championship teams were loaded. It's not often you get talents like Bobby Wyatt, Justin Thomas, Robby Shelton, Trey Mullinax, Tom Lovelady, and Cory Whitsett on the same team. Oh and of course having an assistant coach like Mike McGraw, who is now the HC at Baylor, doesn't hurt either. So we're not really lacking talent right now, just need some more consistency from our #4 and #5s. We'll be back into our usual form next year IMO, but I wouldn't expect a title yet.

In a dogfight now... basically 4 teams for 2 spots separated by 5 strokes.

Yea, pretty solid showing today. Were in a battle with U-Dub early and about 5 holes later had cleared Penn State.

What a finish, down to +9 almost done. Going to easily qualify and maybe even finish 3rd.

The loss of assistant coach Scott Limbaugh was a big loss for the program. He brought in a lot of those big studs. Now he's at Vandy and has made their program into a powerhouse.

The Women's NCAA tournament seemed pretty botched. I believe we got the worst of the weather conditions and were never really in contention.
The Men start today on the same course.
