I'm torn. It's a high risk, high reward hire IMO. I'm most excited about what he brings to the recruiting trail.

Cooper, Howard, Foster, White, etc... Should be jumping for joy. If our O is anywhere near the USC O he coached under Pete, we should cause headaches every weekend.

Jesus, the front page of the SECR is full up of threads on Bama and Kiffin.

Kiffin won't get a chance to saying douchebag things to the media because Saban's staff hardly ever gets to speak to the media.

As long as he does a good job, I'm good with it.

If there was ever a year to take a bit of a risk with the offense, might as well be one with a new QB and lowered expectations relative to Bama's recent success.

While Bama scored a lot under Nuss, the offense just never felt exciting. Going to be interesting to see what Kiffin can bring to the table.

He's still a douche though and Layla is so plastic.

I would love to be a fly on the wall when Miss Terry invites Layla over for brunch.

Food for thought: Had a source tell me yesterday that Lane Kiffin instantly became best recruiter on #Alabama's staff. Interesting opinion.

Today #Bama hired Lane Kiffin as OC. He’ll run Saban’s plays, like they all do, hide out, be a great play-caller, & resurrect his career

The rehabilitation of Lane has begun. Saban knows what he is doing and sees qualities he believes he can utilize and develop. Lane was only 31 when he became a head coach of an NFL team. Of course his head and ego bloated. Who among us would have had the maturity to handle that kind of job at that age. Welcome to Bama Coach Kiffin. If you are as smart as I believe you are, you will develop, thru the process, into a Coach to be proud of.

Recruiting matters: Alabama and USC had top 5 recruiting classes in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Both head coaches are now on the same staff.

Kiffin's contract specifies that he gets the working headphones at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

I'm waiting for an email from a friend that is a Vol fan and alum. I gave him much shite during Lane's tenure at Tennessee. His email should be priceless.

This is my take.

There will be a shite-ton of media coverage going into 2014 (look for espn to carry the Bama A-day game) and lots of fan interest.

Then the season starts and Bama looks like...Bama. Hopefully Kiffin can use the TE and play makers a little more effectively, but things aren't going to look a whole lot different. This is Saban's Alabama. That doesn't change.

To be fair, Orgeron had a lot to do with USC's recruiting success
