We are mad about how we lost, not that we lost.

Let's be honest. this team massively over-achieved from where it should have been. Before the game, we were all happy to have been in the playoff and to have beaten UGA.

What has us all annoyed is the fact of how we lost. Consistent, unprovoked mistakes on both sides of the ball. We had that game. 7 pt lead, 4th and 2 at midfield....3 plays later a TD because of a miscommunication and luck(tipped pass). Multiple drives killed by sacks and bad snaps.

The first half play calling, the inability to adjust protections, or snap the fricking ball...ever, or block(Michigan had a lot to do with that fwiw). It's stuff that should have corrected through coaching and wasn't.

I'm writing this to other fans as much as us. But just wanted to quantify it.

Don't forget the ILBs had maybe their worst game of the year. DBs were confused a lot of the times as well.

You are exactly right. I am also mad that as usual we let the cheaters off the hook. We had the chance to keep Scam Newton out of a championship and blew it and Michigan is poised to win one now.

But more to the point is that this team never became a championship caliber team. Milroe improved a great deal but still wasn't ready to win a championship. Whenever we've won championships, it's been defense that smothered them at the end. We've had a great center too, but not this year.

The constant confusion on defense was disappointing. Michigan had clearly done their homework and knew they could get us to bust by motioning/moving guys and trying to get us to pass off coverage. We better find an answer to that before next year because everyone will try to copy it.

My thoughts as well. They had just enough pre snap motion to get our guys a bit off balance. I was disappointed especially after our ILBs had come off the best performance of the year against UGA.

17 was terrible. The TD in OT he just runs into the back of our DL instead of fitting his gap. The worst run fits we had all year against an OL that was missing their top OL.

It used to take a Heisman level performance from an opposing QB to beat us. Even if you weren’t Cam, Manziel, or Watson, you still had to have the game of your life (Garcia). That blueprint has been shattered over the last few years for one reason or another.

McCarthy played decently and was good in the clutch, but didn’t do anything truly special. If we had more offensive output, no way he could’ve kept up.

The throw that lawson got a hand on that still maintained a perfect spiral still pisses me off.

These guys are just not as good as players on those old teams. Recruiting rankings are BS. They didn't hand out 5 stars like they do now.

The development doesn't seem to be there anymore either. All of the old Saban teams usually had at least one leader who was a 3 star type recruit but who was developed into one of the better players on the team. I don't know if it's scouting or coaching, but I can't remember the last guy like that.

Yep. We had two guys in the same gap on the long TD run. That's been a problem much of the year. You'd think getting Lawson and Campbell back next year would be a positive. Hopefully they can improve there. We missed fits too many times this year.

Dominated on defense in the 2nd half but after the blown 4th and 2 play given up we completely melted. That OT defensive series…wtf was that man. 2 run plays. Easy TD. Felt like LSU in 2022 with Daniels scoring on their first play.

How we never cover a running back out of the backfield idk. That and the tes are their bread and butter plays. Seemed like they watched no film at all tbh. And the coaches apparently didn't emphasize to cover the rb.

The coaching turnover finally caught back up to us a few years ago and we’ve been searching for our identity since. Until about 2016-2018ish, teams used to be scared to death to play us. Joyless murderball. It was like Tiger in the early 2000’s. The game was won when the opponent saw the red shirt.

Don't know if it was the Clemson losses or all of the field storming losses of the last few years, or just time taking its toll…but that aura of invincibility and intimidation is gone. Teams now relish getting their shot at us so they can have their “Alabama” moment. We play tight because we feel like the hunted. Thats why we played so loose and hungry against UGA. That’s probably the one program at this moment where we feel like the hunter when we play them.

Inside linebacker play. Those guys don't seem to be instinctive players. Late reacting to the flat, often don't fill the correct gap. They also are probably a little heavy honestly. Guys like Moseley, Evans, Foster were missiles out there. Even McClain, who was kind of a jumbo inside played much faster because he had such good instincts.

Yeah that' true. I don't know if it's poor coaching or these kids today just do not listen and follow instruction well.

Most of the issues in the game were unsurprising because we've seen them all season, but that total defensive collapse is inexplicable to me.

All Bama fans should be happy with the way this team overachieved and upset with not executing to our fullest potential.

With that being said; Bama fans should be furious with last year’s performance wayyyy more. There really wasn’t any excuse to make the playoffs at the minimum and get to the champ.
