Anyone have an update on his return? I really think he’s the missing link… especially if BY is back.

He's been practicing. They haven't edited him out of the practice footage like they have with Bryce.

Do we have a QB that can hit him deep is the question we should be asking.

Bryce has had trouble with his deep ball. And Milroe, forget about it.

Maybe Bryce can hit him on those post routes that worked so well with Jamo.

Get him in space and let that speed take over.

I'm not getting my hopes up about this dude. IF he ever gets on the field, he had an abysmal catch rate at Louisville. I'm just going to be pleasantly surprised if he pans out.

Yup - I've felt that way since we added him. He has intriguing tools and skillset, but even without the injuries he was far from a sure thing.

If he can just run go routes and catch 4-5 balls this year down the seam then he's worth it IMHO.

Stone hands or not, if the threat of him beating you deep and possibly catching a home run ball, doesn't that at least give the defense something else to consider?

We've thrown almost no deep balls this season. We have to stretch the defense out to loosen up the underneath routes for the young guys and maybe give Gibbs more room to exploit.

Bryce has been overthrowing the deep ball. Harrell is probably the one guy (well Bond too) that can go get that ball better than anyone else we have. I hope he gets out there soon.

Bryce struggled the first 3 games throwing deep. We found some chemistry the last 2 against Vandy/Arkansas, though.

20+ yards downfield

Utah State, Texas, ULM
1/7 (14%)
38 yds
5.4 YPA

Vanderbilt, Arkansas
6/11 (55%)
216 yds
19.6 YPA

And he'll struggle throwing deep ball again because of chemistry. We don't know how strong his arm will be.

I honestly don't think this weekend will even be about the deep ball. We will have receivers running open in the 7-15 yard range all day long. The key is having a guy play who knows where those open pockets will be and can slice and dice things up. The deep ball is a big deal when playing a team whose plan is to crowd you at the line and not let anything within 10 yards of the LoS (Texas did this). That isn't how Tennessee plays pass defense (and they can't because their secondary just isn't athletic or talented enough).

Bryce will pick their stuff apart. Jalen, with his limited play and raw ability, won't be as apt to read something and immediately take action. And that negates the advantage we have.

I dont' think Bryce will be overthrowing the deep ball this week if he plays. My guess is he will be fairly limited in what he can do. Guessing he will be throwing in the balls in the 5 - 15 yard range. Hope I am wrong but an injury the throwing shoulder will most likely limit his ability until fully healed.

I’d be overthrowing the deep ball too if my deep threat the year before was Jameson Williams.
