Trying to remember, has Saban ever before reacted like he did to the onside?

Not that any of us can possibly know, but when he smiled after that onside you just knew it was over.

I don't think so. Face it, the guy just doesn't smile. Or at least it's not often that he does.

Not that I've seen.NC and you and your guys just took the ball back.Game tied.

To me it wasn't just an "on-sides kick". It was perfect. It was like Griffin pooch kicked a perfect fade to Marlon Humphrey. It was a thing of beauty. And there wasn't a Clemson player in the area.So it was very strategic also.

One of the gutsiest playcalls in college football history. Executed to perfection.

A smile like that is usually reserved for Ms Terry only.

I am not a "Smiler" and I constantly get told "smile", "what's so bad that you can't smile", etc... The fact of the matter is that the lack of a smile does not indicate a lack of happiness. Do successful poker players smile when they get a great hand?

And frankly, Griffith's soccer background probably played a huge part. It was a perfectly executed pass with his instep, like he was perfectly setting up Humphrey for a header into the back of the net. Griffith has probably made that pass countless times on a soccer field.

It's interesting, We attempted two onside kicks this year and Griffith played them both perfectly. We aren't behind all that often so it isn't like these are used much. Still it is interesting to know he is pretty damn good at it.

Yeah, he's really ran the gauntlet this year...remember when he started the season 0-4? So many on this board posted that they were done with him...but he came back strong...55-yarder against LSU, 5 FGs in the Iron Bowl, and then a FG and the onside kick in the championship game. Now he'll go down in the annals of Bama football lore but in a good way...for Bama kickers, only Van Tiffin might be revered more. Very happy for the guy...

As for Saban, never seen him smile before like that during a game...but I recall he was smiling from ear-to-ear immediately after an LSU game a few years back...I recall him givin' AJ a huge hug at midfield...

I remember that game and I like Doyle...but still think the Kick and the Onside Kick rate above the Kick II...

Liked his predecessor as well...can't recall a signature moment for Proctor but he was very consistent...same for Leigh Tiffin; no signature kick that I can recall but it was amazing from how he rebounded from that Arkansas game to become an All-American...
