I don't understand the timing. Why make this trade now and leave yourself with no RB for the season and no compensation until next year? Could they not make a similar trade at the end of the year? It's like an interest free loan to the Colts

That's another thing. They're giving the Colts Trent for the season thereby making them a better team which in return makes their 1st round pick for next year (the Browns compensation for Trent) less valuable.

Maybe the Browns really are blowing up their season in hopes of "earning" the #1 pick next year. They'll be hard-pressed to beat out Jax for that one though.

Maybe they think the way their offense is struggling that the value may not be there for Trent later in the season

It's gotta be this. That franchise sucks, there really is no other way to describe it. They've got great fans that aren't paid for their loyalty at all.

I'm guessing this will be for the Teddy Bridgewater sweepstakes?

Why tank though? The D has top five potential, and you've got pieces. Granted, some guys aren't playing as good as they should (Schwartz for example), but you've got a good young Tight End and Gordon is good. Plus Joe Thomas and Alex Mack.

I don't think Trent being on their roster was going to prevent their inevitable 3-13 type season. Weeden is probably worse than Christian Ponder, which is actually kind of impressive. Did you see the play where he overthrew the guy who was running down the sideline with no one within 20 yards of him? That takes some incredible lack of talent. There might not be another QB in the league who could frick that one up, including every team's clipboard holder. There are probably a few defensive linemen who could have completed that for a touchdown.

IMO, they don't believe it will be enough to get over the hump. QBs blow and they don't have much at WR either. They flash from time to time but they don't have the talent to consistently compete for a division title.

But I'll say this, they've got a lot of bargaining chips with all of those picks.

Everyone needs to remember this group did not draft Weeden and Trent. They want to bring in their own guys.

Uh... they get two first round picks. That's not stupid at all. It's the best for both teams.

Everything Ive seen says 1 pick not to mention all the reasons sarc mentioned above .

Wish my falcons would have given up Jackson and a second for him. Could you guys imagine Trent in the Falcons offense?

Time out...

Cle drafted Trent and Weeden in the first round in order to rebuild and now are getting rid of Trent to get another first round pick so they can draft a new QB to try to rebuild again?

New GM.

Trent would do no better than any other RB in the Falcons offense. Our OL is absolute trash. Adrian Peterson couldn't run behind those worthless bums.

I couldn't be happier for Trent.Cleveland is going to be a bad Team for awhile. The Colts front office will bring in what they need to get where they want to be.
Congratulations Trent.
