Didn't know that. That's very interesting. Would love for Avery to do that.

So if Bama football gets in the Cotton Bowl, we should just say no?

Anybody that has ever played the game wants to play another game with his team. Regardless of what is at stake. Just give me a chance to win another game.

The Jerome sounds fun. Never attempted it though.

If you win the NIT, you are actually much better than #65. A lot of the teams in the NCAA tournament aren't one of the top 64 teams.

Greeting Boys and Girls, We’re back. For the 17th consecutive year (except the one we skipped), we present The “Send It In, Jerome!” Championship Week Challenge. Known affectionately and worldwide by its apt moniker – “The Jerome” – our friendly competition will help you navigate the more than 280 conference tournament games that most years are the Maddest part of March. This year, we’re stoked to welcome the Ivy League to our basketball bonanza. It’s clear Jerome-induced FOMO overwhelmed the Ivy aristocracy, and hence, the Ancient Eight has a four-team bracket at The Palestra. Fitting, somehow, that our less-than-holy competition could be decided on a Sunday afternoon in a basketball cathedral. Anyway, on to the important stuff. Veterans, feel free to skip down to the forms. Rookies, the object of The Jerome is to select the winners of the 32 NCAA Division I conference tournaments. You’re allowed to pick one team per league, and you earn points based on how far it advances. A trip to the finals earns two points for your The Jerome score, and a victory in the championship game gets you three more (for a grand total of, wait for it, five). There are two bonus points available if your conference tourney-winning team meets BOTH of the following criteria: 1.) it is seeded third or worse in that tournament’s bracket (or second or worse in a league that uses divisions as seeding), and 2.) it plays no more than two games in the tournament on its home court. So in some leagues, picking a winner means seven points for you. Some logistics: the 32 conferences are split into two groups based on the timing of the league tournaments. Batch 1 – Pick Deadline: Monday, Feb. 27 at 6:00 p.m. EST America East, Atlantic Sun, Big South, Colonial Athletic Association, Horizon, Metro Atlantic, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Summit, and West Coast. Our Jerome interns have created two forms – one for each batch - you must use to make your picks. You may access the first form here: WEEK 1 ENTRY FORM. Questions about or problems with the form should be tweeted to our staff (@SendIt_Interns). Batch 2 – Pick Deadline: Monday, March 6 at 6:00 p.m. EST American Athletic, Atlantic Coast, Atlantic 10, Big East, Big Sky, Big Ten, Big 12, Big West, Conference USA, Ivy, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern American, Mountain West, Pac-12, Southeastern, Southland, Southwestern Athletic, Sun Belt and Western Athletic. The second form will be tweeted out from @SendIt_Interns and @TheJeromeXVI on or around Wednesday, March 1. The second form will also include three tiebreaker selections: Tiebreaker #1: Total number of conference tournament victories for the following teams: Cincinnati, Oklahoma State, Villanova, Virginia Tiebreaker #2: Total number of conference tournament victories for the following teams: Arizona, Florida, George Mason, Northwestern Tiebreaker #3: Total number of upsets (worse-seeded team wins) in the “Power 5” conference tournaments (ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, SEC) A few notes before we take flight. First, there are no flotation devices beneath the couch cushions and press-row seats from which you’ll cheer your teams. If you miss a picks deadline, you will drown. Next, don’t worry about seat belts – we encourage travelling, but only from one live stream radio broadcast to the next. And like always, we’d love for you to enjoy your favorite beverage, and don’t dare dump it in an NCAA-approved cup. Questions? Hit us at those Twitter handles above (you can also follow Jerome chatter via #TheJerome). The answer to the most popular questions is yes, our borders are open, so invite anyone you wish to participate. Pass along the link to the form, and if others enter, they’re automatically added our e-mail list. You may also reply to this e-mail if you need assistance. If any conflicts arise, all my decisions are final. That is all. Enjoy the hoops

I'm not formatting that to make it look nice. Here's the week 1 entry form if any of y'all want to play. Picks are due by 5 I think. Put an email you actually use so that you'll see the 2nd round form once they send it: LINK

So you believe Bama should reject any bowl not part of the CFP in football too?

As pointed out, the NIT winner is probably closer to top 30

Thanks. Don't know much about those small schools this year so I just guessed on a ton of them lol. Would've done some research on the teams but I'm about to head to class and wouldn't have time. I'll just depend on the main tourneys to get my points

Don't watch much NBA, but I'll give it a try

Sexton - Eric Bledsoe: Great quickness, electric in the open floor, both just slightly above 6'
Petty - Jimmy Butler: Great athletes, can play either 2 or 3, good shooters
Reese - Patrick Patterson: Solid big that can spread the floor. Both slightly under 6'10"
Herb - DeMarre Carroll: Long, athletic, hopefully a good spot up shooter
Giddens - DeAndre Jordan: Big and strong but raw. Lack post moves and is bad at the line.

I'll play.

Sexton - Kyrie Irving (offense) / Patrick Beverly (defense) : Extremely tight handle who can score at all levels and get to the line at will. Elite defensive player and plays intense at all times.
Petty - Tim Hardaway, Jr.: Gifted scorer and athlete, but can be streaky. Loves to pull-up, but can score inside as well. Petty is probably better defensively.
Reese - Kelly Olynyk: inside-out big who can score a variety of ways. Not elite defensively, but can hold his own.
Jones - KJ McDaniels: athletically gifted with some shooting ability and a lot of upside. Skills still need refinement.
Smith - Thomas Robinson: very raw, but can defend and rebound.
Giddens - Andre Drummond: Athletic and raw, but can out-size and out-muscle his opponent for buckets. Good rebounder and elite shot-blocker.

The NBA comparison doesn't mean they're that good, just a comparison of who they play like.

If we get invited to the NIT and don't go I'll be irrate. Programs like Alabama don't decline the NIT. Who do you think we are?

The CBI? Sure. Not the NIT. Playing Georgetown, Virginia Tech, Iowa, Colorado, TCU, Georgia Tech or Indiana for 1-2 games is well worth it, regardless of what the end prize is.

I don't think we should turn down an invitation. Don't burn bridges. I just don't think the team will benefit from those extra practices.

Turning down an invitation would be wrong. I know fans like to degrade the tournament, but as a building program with a young HC, doing this gives exposure and momentum for the next year. Recruits get the narrative that Avery is only in his second year, he's been on the bubble twice with essentially no playmakers, he's signed a top 5 recruiting class, and he's gotten some signature wins under his belt.

I hate to bring up the unthinkable, but if somehow Sexton doesn't make it to campus, the young guys don't mesh, we don't figure things out, etc, and we go 17-13 next year and Sexton declares........
