That article you linked is a pretty pearl clutching histrionic response to what is essentially no actual information about what did or didn't happen in the athletic department related to what at that time was a title ix complaint if im reading the timeline information correctly. The guy subsequently was arrested I think.
Literally no information about what doboer or even the athletic department knew about any allegations at that point.

I love Jalen Milroe. He can do a lot of magical things with the football in his hands. He's the ultimate leader who has a tireless work ethic. He's become a better passer and a decent decision maker but with that being said Milroe still has HUGE holes in his game and Saturday I am hoping to see some improvements in the areas he's lacking in.

I still think Milroe is Jalen Hurts 2.0 and I also think this is a (Tua/Jalen) scenario all over again

Because..

Ty Simpson is the most complete quarterback on this team and from what I HEARD Ty's been the most consistent. How true that is..I don't know. I'm not trying to stir up anything but just simply stating my opinion on this quarterback deal.

Don't get me wrong Jalen Milroe won a lot of games but he shouldn't just be GIVEN the keys because he started last season. Milroe still struggled in games when teams took away the deep passes and forced him to read defenses in which that was NOT his strength. He also struggled with his ACCURACY and I can tell by a few pictures.. Milroe will still struggle because he still holds the ball wrong when passing it. There's plenty of folks that placed blame at Seth McLaughlin feet vs Michigan and he did mess up but there was plenty of opportunities where Milroe simply missed WIDE open people. This is not lies!

Our new coaches can probably scheme around his deficiencies better but I'll notice it from the jump.

I appreciate Ty Simpson for staying & competing. I only hope that they give him a FAIR shake.

All I heard about last year was how inconsistent he was in practice.

I don't know why anyone believes that this will be the case. Big time college football coaches want to win, and they are paid millions to do so. They don't let popularity contests influence their decisions.

If Milroe starts then it will be the same old story with people on here: You'll be positive that it wasn't a fair competition, and that Simpson is a superstar sitting on the sidelines.

I personally believe that if Simpson continues to be the best QB in practice/scrimmage then he will get the starting job. If Milroe performs better, then he will be the guy. That is the most logical outlook.

I can believe that. Simpson probably was inconsistent at practice under a new offensive coordinator but for people to make it like he was the ONLY one who was inconsistent is funny to me.

We all could've pass the ball better than BUCHNER and Milroe was INCONSISTENT as heck to. The only thing both of those guys had over Ty Simpson was game experience.

My eyes are good enough to know that Milroe nor Buchner was better than Ty Simpson last season.

Buchner and Milroe was all over the place. One couldn't throw for shite and the other couldn't read defenses nor was he accurate.

Some perform better in games than practice (Jake Coker/Dre Kirkpatrick)

Only time will tell with the New Coaches

Based on what? His 11/20 for 179 passing against the 2 cupcakes he played? Ty might win the job and end up great but nothing he's put on tape shows he was any better than Milroe last season.

Milroe was inconsistent at times for sure, but he was top 25 in completion percentage. He wasn't that inaccurate.

From my look behind the curtain Ty is better and Milroe is better.

Lonergan is going to be really good. He may not get the shot with us but he definitely has it.

There is a lot of truth to Milroe being a leader and all that.

End of the day with our new coach, the best player will play.

Kinda hard to believe. He didnt put a lot of balls on the money. And, we he wont throw the ball unless he thinks his target is wide open. He had some deep balls that were nowhere close.

Pass completion % isnt always the best indicator of accuracy. A lot of factors can lead to high completions. But accuracy is something a little different. Tua was probably the best ive ever seen. His WRs were always catching the ball in stride and in the hands. Milroe had a lot of passes where the WR had to make a great catch just to bring it in. I'd say accuracy and reading the defense are his two biggest weaknesses.

That's true, a QB can fatten up their completion % with a bunch of short out passes and screens, but we all know that isn't the case with Milroe. He was somewhat of an enigma last year-he would struggle to hit easy passes, then throw lasers 20+ yards down the field perfectly placed. He was very accurate last year on many passes, but inaccurate on many others. Which is why he is inconsistent.

That accuracy and consistency is directly related to footwork.

Does anybody think JM had good footwork last year?

I do believe there was a video from spring where it looked better.

agreed, and also not getting jittery when the pocket gets a little crowded.

Guess we'll know this weekend. Bottom line is if the light is truly coming on for Simpson, he will have to get better at those things, or he is going to be #2, possibly #3.

Kind of crazy how seemingly loaded our QB room is right now in the portal/NIL era. Obviously could(likely will) change after spring, but its pretty strong currently.

I guess Simpson got a FAIR shake last season.

O Line was absolutely terrible his first in game experience. He made a few plays to get us the W after he wasn't even game planned for but CARRY ON.

Next opportunity he got, guess what? He looked light years better!

Even if Milroe is the starter, Simpson would be the presumed clear leader to start in 2025.

I wouldn't think he'd command a big NIL deal at this point if he entered the portal...at least not enough to give up being the starter at Alabama for a season. That's all it takes to make the NFL...one stellar seasonbat a high profile program like Bama. Transferring now would be a terrible business decision...no matter who starts this fall.

If a program had him pegged as their starter from day one then I would think a good NIL would be had

Milroe not a natural QB. Some things he will never be comfortable doing. I saw Milroe make one throw in the USF game that went over the middle that let me know he was better.

It was a joke. I think he could be really good, but I think every scholarship receiver we have on the roster could be really good. I figured he got redshirted because he was coming off an injury from high school
