I will be watching the pass rush today as the rams have a pretty good passing attack and I am curious to see how much pressure we can generate. We were already taking a step back replacing our guys from last year without losing our 2 best pass rushers. Anybody have a time table on Evans returning?

The lack of passrush combined with the injuries to Miller and Lewis concerns me much more than QB and Oline play right now.

Be prepared to be disappointed. Colorado State will try those quick passes to the outside and a lot of bubble screens.

Did anyone see this article from the other day?

Christian Miller's father says he could return this year

Him coming back in time for the Playoff would be sick.

Even if he comes back by December or so he may not be our best option at that point.

Agree. CSU has a sophisticated passing philosophy according to Nick Saban. They are sure to try to get the ball out quickly but there will be several opportunities with longer developing plays. I am not saying we have to have lots of sacks but their quarterback needs to know we are there.

Hope the oline shows some more improvement today too. I hope to see Wills at RT & Womack at RG.

With the guys that we are missing, I think we'll need to bring extra guys to get pressure. I don't see us doing a lot of that today. Hopefully those guys up front can get some things done on their own today. I'd specifically like to see Hand and Buggs make an impact in this area.

I've damn near given up on Hand being anything more than just a guy at this point. Has all the measurable and seems athletic enough. He's just slow off the ball and doesn't have those Kung Fu hands you need to disengage quickly. I hope I'm wrong.

Hand

One service ranked him #1 overall. He has been a nice contributor for 2 years now but he hasn't lived up to his ranking. He has great size and good speed and is stronger than most every other DE in football. Not sure why he hasn't evolved into a dominant player. Maybe he will turn it on this year but so far he has been out played by 2 other ends.

Well, he has been stuck behind a shite load of DL draft picks. I don't think people realize how deep we've been there. Spoiled in 2015 and 2016.

Even then he's been in the rotation the last 2 years but has been kinda decent but not great. Guys like Anderson and Williams made the most of their limited roles before they became starters.

No doubt but a player with his measurables should be a force on the line and we haven't saw it yet. Daron Payne started a couple of games as a true freshman and was dominant even though we had an all star line with 2 tackles in Reed and Robinson that got drafted.

Must be the engineering studies sapping the juice out of Hand. That is if he is still pursuing engineering, otherwise my theory goes for a toss.

No pass rush tonight. Not good.

Nope. The secondary feels like they are in position to make some plays, but they need to improve finding the ball. That can be worked on. The pass rush is nonexistent and I don't see it coming back with the injuries to Evans and Miller who I assume are our pass rush specialist.

We have 5 LB's out of which 3 return next week. Think we will be fine.
