Should we even worry about next year's QB?

AJ for Heisman is fun this year but a common argument I hear against it is (and this is a direct quote from the main rant)

"you could plug in any top 5 SEC QB's in the "Bama System" and they would be as good OR EVEN BETTER #noheismanforaj"

Well if that is truly the case, then are we truly in trouble when AJ leaves? Is it worth biting fingernails and fretting the QB battle when Saban has already gone 12-0 with John Parker Wilson at the helm? Or should we relax and trust that the most capable candidate will win the day and guide us into the next chapter of glory, well protected with excellent targets to choose from and amazing options are running back to bail him out.

I know this is sunshine pumping but the closer we get to saying goodye to McCarron for good, the less worried I am. It's an odd feeling.

I'm not worried about things beyond my control. My advice is to hang on and enjoy the ride, and be supportive of whoever gets the job.

As long as Coker comes we will be fine. If not, we are fricked.

No, we are not. Come on, brah, have some faith. Don't give up on guys that havent even gotten a chance yet. That's a defeatist attitude.

If you listen to every person that hates us, no, we should not worry.

Alabama only needs a QB that isn't stupid...

Yeah, that's what THEY say.

As a Bama fan, I'm worried.

AJ is special. And we haven't seen another QB do shite for us in three years.

I hope the guys we have step up.

Props to Blake Sims for hanging in there but he doesn't appear to be the heir apparent. AJ clearly was. McElroy clearly was.

Not having an obvious choice for next year is troublesome. But I'm assuming we have a redshirt or two that will emerge.

Or maybe Blake will do better with more reps as the starting #1.

As to worrying--I wouldn't pin my hopes on another title run. That just doesn't happen--often.

wtf? When have they had any chances do "do shite" for us? AJ McCarron didnt look any better in clean up duty when he was behind Mcelroy than our backups have done in clean up duty. Which is why no one knew who was going to be the starter after the 2010 season.

fricked is a strong word, but if we throw out one of the QBs we have on roster now we wont win the NC next year.

To be fair to AJ, if he had scored on that final drive to beat Auburn...well his legacy would have just been that much greater.

If we win 4 titles in a row, I would be very surprised.

I wouldn't be surprised at winning it next year just because of the experience everywhere except for QB, but after that we lose both Vinnie and LC. No returning Safety, Trey gone...leadership would be gone as would the guys making the adjustments on the field.

Yeah, I guess at this point, I wouldnt be surprised, but the thought of winning four in a row just seems surreal almost. It definitely can happen.

Well, that is purely speculative. We have a stockpile of talent, and I expect the juniors and seniors in 2015, as well as the younger guys to step and be leaders.

I think next year is going to be a bit of a rebuild regardless of who the QB is.

Surveying the roster and experience back in 2011 I was sure 2013 would be a rebuilding year.

I hope you're right. It just seems that a lot of our QB's of the future never pan out.

JPW and GMac were already here. AJ is Nick's QB

Maybe we have bad arse talent, but I've yet to see it or really even hear about it.

Yep. Looks like we've really only had one rebuilding year. 2007.

Rebuilding is only allowed once in The Process.

I love how people have pretty much written Bateman off before he has even taken a single meaningful snap.

Don't you think that this statement is completely asinine?

The only sample we have is McCarron and he obviously did pan out. I'm not sure where you were going with that statement...

lol so whose QBs are the other ones on the roster?

Where do you suppose you would have seen or heard about it when none of them have gotten any real game experience? Let's not act like everyone knew AJ was going to be as great as he has. He never looked great in mop up duty, or in spring games as a backup, and the general consensus of the fanbase was that we werent sure about him.

You people kill me.

QB is the missing piece for next year's team. The rest of the team will be loaded. With the QBs we have now I see a 10-2 or 11-1 season. With a good QB I see a 12-0 season. Maybe not a national championship next year, but a SEC Title. Which is fine with me.
