AL.com - Saban NCAA Coaching Staff Size

Pretty funny at the 2:30 mark talking about the high school spring period ruling and says "Urban Meyer and I were the only ones who went out every day like assistant coaches, so everyone else complained about it".

He's right and again, nobody actually listens and comprehends the words he says. They'd rather say "Saban is ranting again" and go from there.

It is frustrating that people look at everything he says as "LOL SABAN IS A MAD arse BITCH". He doesn't just randomly scream and yell about things. He has specific reasons for every one of these "here's what I think about X & Y" rants he does. Now, you might not agree with him, but it's just irritating to see people go LOL SABAN SCREAMIN AGAIN. But, that's America in 2017.

Will the things he wants help Alabama? Sure. But if you listen to what he says about recruiting periods, high school coaches, staff sizes and can't at least acknowledge he has a legitimate point that is well thought out from experience, then you belong on a short bus.

I said this before in another thread, but maybe it's Saban's fault that he created the perception that every time he gets rolling, the instant reaction is to the "rant" instead of his actual statement. However, it's lazy media like Finebaum that perpetuate it in order to stir up immediate reactions. Instead of people talking about how & why the best coach in college football disagrees with rule changes, the tagline usually is "LOL. Saban is mad again!"

But that's a bigger problem in society in general. Nobody tries to comprehend or listen to what people actually say. They just go straight to a narrative.

Yep. And I'm not saying you have to agree with his stance, either. But the baseline that everyone should agree on is Saban thinks through these things and generally raises pretty valid points in defense of his positions. And you can't fit him in a box. At all. He's his own dude.

But that would take more than 90 seconds and a hot take to discuss, so, no thanks.

I honestly don't listen to Finebaum, but I had it on yesterday in my car and I guess I was too lazy to change to music after The Roundtable ended. Of course Finebaum starts the show with a 60 second faux rant about how Saban should calm down. I immediately turned it off. Not because I can't handle criticism of Saban or Alabama. Got no problem with legit criticism. Just hate lazy hot takes and that's all Finebaum is. Everyone loves to make fun of Saban for getting mad about the "Saban Rule" that got pushed in by coaches like Tuberville who were too lazy and were getting their arse beat on the trail. Yet nobody takes a second to criticize them for being, for lack of a better term, pussies.

Then you turn on local news and you have whatever hack anchor talking about "Saban got fired up today" instead of maybe interviewing local high school coaches to get their reaction to Saban's rant. It's just laziness all around.

Yea, it's frustrating. There are things to criticize Saban for, but that's not one of them. But it's easy to run with.
