And this could have just as easily been a dual arrest of both parties.

I mean, I can visualize what keying a car looks like, but I'm wondering how big of a damn dent Anderson left in her car after the fact.

Since cops didn't witness anything, I'm guessing most likely scenario is both parties will decline to press charges and it'll be dropped?

Not necessarily. Well depends on the DA. Most of the times you are correct though. Domestics are one of those things that makes me just shake my head. If a relationship is that bad, why are you in it?

If nobody was injured and there wasn't a complete disturbing of the peace, this seems like the kind of incident that I'd wish cops would let go. Since Anderson plays football, it is now all over the news that he was arrested for "domestic violence." The court of public opinion already convicted him (and the program) well before the report even came out. Its a tough situation for a college student to be in.

I don't want cops to sweep things under the rug or overlook serious issues, but I think there should be a gray area where cops can work with the coaching staff so the guy's name won't be dragged through the mud. I think that should be the case at almost every school. Courtney Upshaw is a prime example of that. I know it's easy to say "Well, he shouldn't have put himself in that position," but I doubt he honestly knew that kicking a girl's car could be grounds for a 'domestic violence' charge.

Much of the discretion has been taken out of the hands of police in regards to domestic violence. In some cases that is good and in others bad. Domestic violence groups will tell you it is to protect the weaker party. Now both parties game the system.

ETA:

The fact that I am just now hearing that both parties were arrested is testament that other outside groups are using this to sell click bait. Good job media. It would have been the same for an Auburn player in this state too.

I'm sure he'll get a second chance.
