If your source is right... HOT.DAMN

Reggie Ragland will be in full beast mode next year. Not that he wasn't a beast this year, but y'all know what I mean.

Imagine our front 7 vs the power run teams.

DE: Jarran Reed
NG: Jonathan Taylor or Josh Frazier
DE: A'Shawn Robinson

That DL is huge. Yeah, we had Ivory in there this past season against those teams, but I think Taylor/Frazier is a talent upgrade.

OLB: Ryan Anderson
ILB: Reuben Foster
ILB: Reggie Ragland
OLB: Denzel Devall

If Hootie is at SS and in the box

Then of course against more spready teams the base 34 (not that we'd be in it):

DE: Jon Allen
NG: Jarran Reed
DE: A'Shawn Robinson

OLB: Rashaan Evans
ILB: Reuben Foster?
ILB: Reggie Ragland
OLB: Ryan Anderson or Denzel Devall?

We can go over all the different sets and looks, but the bottom line is this D is gonna have more NFL talent playing the majority of snaps than any D we've fielded since 11, and it may have more because of the DL.

I thought Ragland was the 2nd coming of Rolando McClain when he signed with Bama, now he can prove it next year.

I think you're really underrating him. I actually think he's one of the better run stoppers that Alabama has had under Saban.

Ragland returning for senior season

I was a bit surprised as I saw Kiper had him rated as the 2nd best ILB and I read somewhere that he got a 2nd round grade from the NFL (don't know if that's accurate though), but I'm glad he's returning...

I'm still wondering who'll be making the defensive calls...think it'll eventually be SDH but don't know if he'll be ready for that next year...not sure how much experience Ragland had this year in making the calls...

Hmmm, maybe I misheard or misunderstood but I was scanning the radio this morning and JPW was on Jox and I swore I thought I heard him say Ragland was leaving.

Do you remember what happened vs. OSU when he wasn't in there? We are horrendous vs. the run without him.

Yep, and Landon Collins was also out then so our 2 best run support guys were out of the game for that play...

Ragland

Just wondering, did he make the calls in any games this year? I know DePriest was out for the WVU game but I can't recall who made the calls in his absence...was it Ragland or perhaps Collins? Our D looked pretty confused that game though. Well, at least he'll have all spring to get the hang of it...

A respected poster on BOL posted that Ragland is staying. He previously posted a couple of days ago that he was leaving. Sounds like that poster might be close to the family.

NO ONE IS DOING shite ON OUR DEFENSE

I'm not a big fan of the Evans to Will talk though. Yeah he can do it, but we need his athleticism on the edge. Sounds like Saban is gonna get too cute.

He could still blitz, and could play the edge on 3rd down.

Saban knows more than me though.
