The Mack news seems kind of odd. Why would such highly recruited QB come here with the QB room we have? Maybe Simpson and Lonergan transfer out in the spring idk. Milroe isn’t going anywhere now but might he if he’s not QB1 after spring. And God forbid we took him because we think Sayin might be thinking of entering the portal. Just seems an odd take. Seems there’s another shoe to drop.

Don't know who will leave after spring practice.

Of the positions we need right now we go out and get a QB. Agree, doesn't make any sense.

I don't think we went out and got him. I think he just wants to play for DeBoer. Also QBs are some of the most confident athletes on the planet. All of them think they're good enough to come into any situation and win the job.

We're reportedly expecting several more commits in the next week.

Not sure if transfer portal folks or not.

While it's a legit question, someone also probably asked, "Why would Jalen Hurts (2016) come here with the nation's No. 1-ranked (2015) pocket-passer Blake Barnett and overall No. 3-ranked (2014) David Cornwell in the QB room?"

You just never know, man — but for now, I'll take it.

So we already lost Holstein. Two of Lonergan, Simpson, Milroe will portal in spring.

Makes complete sense. He makes up for Holstein leaving and possibly another transfer between Milroe, lonergan and Simpson.
Hell, Mack can transfer again in the spring right?

QBs bust all the time. We’ve had many that were five stars that did. While we have other needs, I don’t see anything wrong with throwing another talented guy into the competition.

Yeah this kid is fricking huge. Not used to that either. None of our recent QBs before Milroe could even see over the center.

I guess the same way Def backs came to play for Saban...they want to learn one of the best position coaches.
Hell, I'd take a water boy transfer right now

Guy is unlike anybody we have on the roster and has 4 years of eligibility left with a year already under his belt under deboer. I'm fine with it, I couldn't give a shite if Simpson, sayin, milroe, longeran, or anybody wins the job if they are the best fit and give us the best chance to win. Its been a while since we had a big prototypical NFL QB body on the roster. Plus it helps alleviate the negativity around players leaving and none coming. This guy was the heir apparent at Washington, I have a feeling he will make a run at starting, or at least push everybody else to hold him off. He's the same age as sayin, reclassified and was a top 100 player in the 23 class

DeBoer hasn't even gotten to evaluate the current Bama QBs yet. He has worked with Austin Mack, so he's a known quantity to him. He's available now, but might be off the table later. The top QBs who adapt best to his offense, and want to stay will, and the others won't.

Washington had Dylan Morris, who was a respected recruit himself back in 2019 and would have been a sixth year senior next season, transfer out in favor of Mack. Looking at Mack on film from his junior year in high school (graduated early and was practicing at Washington last year), he has a quick release, big arm, and obviously tremendous size. For a high school QB, I was impressed with how frequently he was going through his progressions and making smart, snap decisions.

It's a full QB room, but Mack may have a more prominent place in there than some think.

Yeah, we really don’t know if he’d prefer to have someone who can run their particular offense, or alternatively prefer to adjust their play calling to fit someone’s existing skill set.

The QB style chosen may also be affected by the capabilities of the OL.

I think everything is up in the air at least until we have some sort of precedent

Think every QB on the roster now is 6'2" or better and over 200lbs.

that's not prototypical NFL size. That's adequate size. Last guy near this size was I think Cornwell, who was 6'5 220
