As small as a front three as we've seen at Alabama in a minute. Pagan looks poised to have a breakout year IMO. Dude just gets in the backfield.

I like the limited film on Brandon Hill better than the limited film on Brown, but we'll just see how it plays out.

The thing with Hill is he's at 390lbs right now. Can he get that weight down and get in shape before Spring and such?

I'd like to think that Cochran can work some magic and get him into shape during the offseason. And 390 isn't as bad as it sounds. With his height and build, he has played and played well at 370-380 the last 2 years.

And I'm not saying he definitely won't redshirt. Warmack is the only OL in recent memory I can think of who didn't redshirt.

DJ Fluker shed around 50 pounds from the time he signed to fall camp as a freshman. He showed up at the same weight because he couldn't work out due to injury.

Big leap in when you go into a collegiate strength program, so there's a shot he loses a good bit. He's also going through the 4th Quarter Program as an EE, Fluker didn't get that in his freshman year.

That'd be nice, but the thing is how would he handle speed rushers at that size?

True, but everyone's body is different. You never can know if you'll see the same results.

Coincidentally, you just spoke my feelings on Leon Brown.

I suppose you meant in terms of all of the JUCO guys we bring in being a relative success?

Yes.

He is not as far along as some have been in the past, and I think they intend to redshirt him for the LT in '14 if/when Cyrus goes pro. Kellen Williams will graduate, so it would be Brandon Greene and a freshman otherwise. Whether or not I think Greene is the future LT, that still isn't good depth. The fact he and his coach have reiterated him playing LT has me wondering.

A ton of them work out, but then you have a few that fall behind. Brandon Lewis wasn't big enough to play end, so they moved him to offense just long enough for him to give up football after stumbling down the depth chart at TE. Travell Dixon fell behind true freshman Geno Smith learning the same 2 positions, which pretty much doomed him from the get go. There's another I really don't want to bring up considering the circumstances, but was he still running 2nd team before it happened.

I'm not saying Brown is gonna fail by any means, but I'm not sure enough to pencil him in for RT over someone who has been the backup for the last 2 years. That doesn't mean he's necessarily talent, but he wasn't exactly backing up Chris Capps either.

Yes.

I don't want to consider it a failed try because it's a unique circumstance beyond anyone's control.

I think Fanning is gonna win one of those DE spots coming out of spring practices
