Hi all. It's getting that time of year again, and I thought it'd be good to have a thread to share info for watching games online, for the cord-cutters, or stationed on a foreign military base, or marooned on the dark side of the moon crowd.

Anywho, on to the good stuff.

My personal choice is KODI. It has everything you could possibly need for sports, live tv channels, movies, tv shows, etc, but it does take a bit of work to both set up and maintain.

where to download kodi

You must install KODI, which in and of itself does nothing, and then add the addons. The addons are applications within KODI that provide the viewing options.

Good, working addons:

SPORTS (and more):
Sportsdevil
Rising Tides
Castaway
StreamHub
Find My Game
Maverick TV
Quantum
The Pyramid
Vortex
Live Hub
BST Live
Halow Live TV
Deliverance
Stream Army
Goodfellas 2.0
Pegasus
Quasar
UK Turk Playlists
Reddit.com
Falcon Sports
Falcon
Made in Canada IPTV

TV/MOVIES:
Elysium
Exodus
Specto Fork
Covenant
Titan
Genesis Reborn
Quantum
Stream All The Sources
1Channel

And there are many more, but the above should get anyone started (or finished). Just google "Kodi" plus the name of the addon, and you'll find lots of pages telling you how to install them. It takes a bit of work.

For those wanting to achieve the most in a short time, install "Ares Wizard". Run that wizard and you will get 5 or 10 of some of the best addons in one place.

Side note regarding KODI, you will also need Plexus and f4mtester to play a lot of the stuff. Just remember those addons.

Leaving the Kodi part of the discussion...

For folks with android boxes, MOBDRO is a nice app for live tv channels (and more). And while we're mentioning android apps, for those looking for free options like (read: better than) Netflix, in addition to Kodi mentioned above, there's Terrarium TV and Show Box. Both are excellent.

If you have an android phone and a chromecast, then you can use any of the above to watch anything on earth and put it on your tv. However, putting Kodi on a laptop and connecting to your TV is my preffered way. I'm actually a cord cutter who despises smart TVs (they're stupid, actually), and all of my TVs have a dedicated laptop and wireless keyboard and mouse.

For those interested in MOBDRO, Terrarium TV, or SHOW Box, just google the name of the program and the word apk, and then download from the apkmirror site. It's a good site that's a trusted sources for APKs. Example: "Terrarium TV apk"

WEBSITES:

FirstRow Sports

ShadowNet

Live2All

DimSports

Zunox

RojaDireecta

And there are many more.

For anyone with other good ways to watch games, please post them here. It should end up being a good resource for folks.

Also, if you are in the US, you might consider using a VPN. I cannot recommend any, as I do not live in the US and am not concerned with Big Brother.

Roll Tide.

EDIT:

Worthwhile links from below:
CFBStreams on Reddit

fromHot (another sports streamng site)

vipleague.me (streams work well, popup hell)

stream2watch (not sure if they carry "american" football)

bosscast (works well)

batmanstream

firstonetv - works well

R/cfbstreams is pretty reliable as well. Alternatively, just pop into the r/cfb threads and you can usually find a decent stream.

My favorite thing about last season was all the people posting youtube streams on reddit. HD and through Google's servers.

Thanks for this...I used to be a cord cutter, but it took too much time setting up and finding the best streams , tv shows etc when you can press 2 buttons on a remote. and God forbid if the internet goes down or the connection gets shaky.

I'll check this out to see if it's worth considering again.

I need to get into these Reddit threads. Some time ago first row worked great but it now seems to be full of bugs and errors.

I agree that firstrow used to work better, but each year the landscape changes and some sites/programs improve or fall to the back. This year will be no different.

That's why sharing/pooling our info will better serve the group.

For instance, my preferred way to watch a game is on KODI, using one of the p2p-type addons to play a torrent of the game. It's the most reliable way to find a 720p stream. Sites like firstrow will provide a link to the game, but it's crap. If you play torrents, you can find some really, really nice pictures. 1080p streams are available too, but you better have smoking internet and nice hardware.

Last year within KODI, my best options came from Castaway, Vortex (the p2p live events section is from the old VidTime addon), Phoenix (dead addon, doesn't exist anymore), The Pyramid, ZemTv, and of course SportsDevil. Now there are some promising new addons for sports, notably Rising Tides and a few others mentioned above.

Kodi does take some work and focus, but the end product is having everything every recorded (tv, movies, music, etc), every live TV channel on earth, and every live event on earth at your fingertips for free.

However, again, I don't live in a country with an oppressive government, so my experience might differ from folks still in the good ole USofA.

Additional info:

Regarding using websites for games, be sure that you are using adblock software with your browser, and don't use Internet Explorer for any reason at any time. Use Chrome or Firefox. My personal preference for best adblock would be Ublock Origin, but others might prefer something else

Also, many devices should be considered for watching stuff, e.g. android phones with chromecast, android tvboxes, windows computers, and even mac computers. If you have an iphone, you will need to invent a time machine, go back 6 years or so to when that device was the best smartphone available, and stay there. You won't be able to watch anything when you get there, but at least you can feel better about your device. With regards to what modern, top-of-the-line smartphones can do, iphones are an embarrassment.

Obviously, everyone knows about the fire stick and firetv box, but don't sleep on the mi box. It's the best bang for your buck for those interested in an android tv box.

Link for MiBox

Another piece of advice for those who like using websites like firstrow.

Frequently, having to wade through the ocean of ads and popups to get to the stream becomes a nightmare. Here's a tip. All or nearly all of the sports streaming websites will be represented inside the Sportsdevil addon in KODI. Well, all you do is navigate to the stream you want, then right-click and select "Open with Chrome Launcher". Assuming you have the chrome launcher addon installed in Kodi and have Chrome on your machine, then KODI will open Chrome to a single window, direct link to the stream without having to click all the ads.

NOTE: This plan works flawlessly in windows. On other operating systems, not to much.

You are like the Kodi Wizard. I bought something a year ago, i think it was Kodi, from walmart tried loading it couldnt figure out how to watch anything and took it back. I needed you a year ago. Maybe ill have to give it another go.

Regarding low-end android TV boxes, they are usually more trouble than they are worth. For anyone thinking of going this route, buy the newest version of something reputable, or don't buy anything. Even if you get stuff to work, it'll be slow, annoying, and eventually useless when all the apps you want to run are using a newer version of android than you have on your crap box, and it can't be updated. Go good or go home.

EDIT: This was not meant to be an insult to the above poster. Just a public service announcement.

For those interested in exploring streaming options specifically for android machines, but are intimidated by the wealth of time and knowledge supposedly needed, there's an app called "Droid Buddy 2" that offers a lot of stuff through one central download location/app. It's pretty useful, particularly for noobs.

On a earlier topic, it should be said that anyone getting into KODI should be at minimum very wary or just completely stay away from "KODI builds", where another entity has installed everything for you. Those can be infested with only God knows what. Always install a fresh copy of KODI, and install what you want yourself.

I looked into, and even downloaded kodi onto my pc, last year. I dicked around trying to figure it out for about an hour, then quit and never went back to it. I may try again soon. My free cable password hookup has scaled back her package, so no more espn.

I have a pc, and a dumb TV with external Roku. Can I make that work? If not, I'm thinking of just doing sling tv through the football and basketball seasons.

Kodi will not work on Roku, no. But it will on your PC, assuming your rig in sufficiently fast. Kodi does not require a crazy fast machine or anything, but your pc needs to be in good order, running smoothly and such.

However, the principal issue is connecting it to your TV. If it has an hdmi out, then it will carry both picture and sound to your tv. Just make sure that the video capabilities of your pc are good enough to play videos well on a big screen. It's much more demanding on a pc to display on a big screen as opposed to small.

If no hdmi out exists, then you'll have to use a vga or similar connection to connect to the tv, which only carries video. So you'd need to connect speakers to the computer. It can be a nice option, but I'm not sure of the location of all these devices relative to each other, and how hard it would be to set up a nice experience.

The best thing to do is verify the physical setup of everything and if videos and sound play well to the tv/speakers.

Then download Kodi, and choose an addon to practice installing something into Kodi. Google "Kodi Sportsdevil" or "kodi quantum", choose almost any page in the results, an follow the directions precisely. Once you practice it a few times, it becomes second nature. Then, spend some time installing a bunch of the other addons so that you have lots of options on gameday (or for movies, tv, whatever).

If set up correctly, then the addons will update themselves to stay up to date and functional. Kodi does not update itself, but a manual update does not have to be performed regularly. Only when needed, and the developers will tell you with a pop up box.

However, if you are the type of person who'd rather pay for the ability to not have to set all that up and not have to stay current on the goings of Kodi, then by all means, do sling box or whatever. Kodi does take a bit of work to setup, and then over time paying a bit of attention to the kodi world to maintain it. If you're willing, the whole universe is available and free.

Subscribe to SlingTV. You'll have access to your account on your PC, and via apps on Roku, Xbox1, Apple TV, and your smartphone. Subscription for the ESPN channels plus SEC Network will run you about $30 per month (though they've just released a new ala carte system so it may be even cheaper).

The best part is you can cancel and rejoin at any time with no fees or penalties. I renew my account each September (and pre-pay for 3 months so I get whatever goodie they're offering as a bonus - right now it's a Roku Express stick), then cancel once bowl games are done. With SlingTV and your local channels, you get 100% SEC football coverage.

I got in on DirecTV Now super early so I'm paying $40 a month for everything with all sports channels and HBO, but we watch movies on Kodi probably 90% of the time. It's so nice to be able to just find anything I want.

I'll probably keep DirecTV Now for the time being, though, because the setup for Kodi for TV shows is not awesome. I like that I can set up kids shows for my 3 year old and they'll keep running. On Kodi, I have to stop whatever it is I'm doing, go into that room, find the remote wherever she's hidden it while playing, and then find the next episode and start it. It's not a big deal when I'm actually watching, but it sucks when I'm trying to get things done.

There are many, many, many addons for kodi that provide access to 24/7 channels of the same program. Also, the Mobdro app does literally that. Also, inside Kodi are numerous cartoon addons that will continuously play episodes, and to top it all off, the addons you probably use to watch movies on Kodi can be set up to continuously play episodes in the same season of any show you want - you just have to change the settings.

The thing you think Kodi won't do can be done about 17 different ways.

And, I forgot to mention, whatever channel your watching on DirecTv can be played on Kodi using any of a large number of addons. What, you're playing Nickelodeon or some channel for your kids on DirecTv? Then play it on Kodi.

Just putting this out there - if anyone here has a specific question about how to do/watch/accomplish something on Kodi, just ask it here. I'm happy to tell you how.

Appreciate it OP. Just ordered an Amazon Firestick. Now that I'm fine with school and the Bar I will appreciate this football season like I haven't in several years.
