I know Boz mentioned Tua may play against Clemson (thanks for posting that btw). What do y'all expect his role to be? I'm wondering if this is just a 1 drive in he game situation or are we gonna put him in when we start struggling to pass? I know there are no confirmed answers, but I just want to know what you all expect

I’m thinking if Jalen is struggling to complete passes then we put Tua in to see what happens. There’s no sense keeping Jalen in if we are going to be one-dimensional against Clemson.

Yeah eventually Jalen has to take that next step and be able to be a threat through the air. If not, we know Tua can

We know Tua can? Based on Vanderbilt and Tenn yes... Clemson highly doubtful

Dude, we've seen Jalen. We know what he can and can't do. Let's not pretend there's some high passing standard Tua will have to exceed. Jalen hasn't looked very good passing even against those teams you're downplaying Tua's performances against. Spare me the stats. I know what I see.

1) getting more wr's killed over the middle
2) int's for TD's
2) int's for TD's

1. Not completing passes.
2. Creating a stacked box
3. Stressing the o-line
4. Three and out
Guess who?

or 3 for 19 on 3rd downs with the other team running 100 plays (and that was on a defense twice as good as the one that will run out of the tunnel in less than a month

I think Jalen plays for a few series. If we're moving the ball well, he stays in. If not, Tua comes in. What he does determines how much he plays.
Maybe that's just my hope. But that's what I'd do.

I find it really hard to believe. I really think our best bet is to finally commit to the run and try to hit Clemson with Pa pass at times. We all love tua but unless Jalen is injured I can't think of a scenario of putting him in right now

Neither QB will be able to do squat if the pass protection doesn't improve.

I could see a scenario where he comes in every 3rd series in the 1st half and then they evaluate from there. The play calling would already be mapped out so he'd likely have a reduced passing playbook to operate from with quick throws.

Unless Bama can get way more out of the passing game then Clemson will win the game. As of today throwing a pass is almost a wasted down. If you're going to throw then roll Jalen out and just flood the area with a deep route a short route and a dump to the back or Jalen just run the damn thing....kind of like our high school offense was in the 60's. Jalen Hurts is NO stay in the pocket and read QB.....

JMO, What does Jalen bring to the table that Tua cannot? Really nothing - except experience and practically no turnovers (INT's).
So, if we are going to run the ball more against Clemson and play action pass - isn't Tua the better guy to play - at least some during the game? Tua can run and hand off just as or nearly as good as Jalen.

pass protection isn't nearly as bad as people think. There's going to be pressure when the quarterback holds the ball for 4 seconds.

I strongly disagree.

There is a difference between holding the ball in a clean pocket, and holding the ball while you are having to dance around defenders. I can't really recall many instances this season where Jalen has had a clean pocket for more than more than 2 or 3 seconds this season.

okay, then there's no point in discussing it. All hail Jalen Manning

Something smells “fishy” about this.
