Do we still do that "go, go, go Alabama" song? If so, that needs to go.

Haven't noticed this year, but when I was in the MDB (06-10) we played it less each year. I agree, it's a terrible cheer.
And as far as "The Cheers are so old" so are the ones LSU does. We can rewrite cheers all we want, but I just don't see a day where Bama's crowd participation will reach their level.

Sure, but their cheers are good. That's the difference.
When Bammy Bound is the best you have to offer, it's time to hang it up.

Ok, I understand some frustration, but Bammy Bound is awesome.
I'd cut the go go go Alabama and the superman first down thing (if we still do that)

We stopped playing Superman around 2008. They cut several cheers out around then, like that and the William Tell cheer.
What's funny is this thread is the first time I've heard people complaining about the cheers. It's usually just about shows.

PLAY LOUDER!!!!
Get more loud horns.
If we don't have room for more, kick some of the quiet ones out. Replace a couple of piccolos or any of the woodwind instruments with another dad gum trumpet or a tuba or a trombone. Change the ratio a little to get louder.
There are eleventy five flag girls and Crimsonettes or whatever their called. Give them a damned horn to toot on.
MAKE IT LOUDER!!!

I don't have a problem with the shows. Do whatever gets your creative juices flowing. Just BE LOUDER during the game.

Did I mention to be loud?

What's that new song they are playing all the time now. Almost sounds like a circus tune. I know I've heard it many times, but I can't place it for the life of me.

I wish this thread hadn't happened. There's a good reason the MDB board on Tidefans doesn't exist anymore. You have multiple crowds, and please don't mistake me for taking sides.
Nobody will win the arguments. Every side will believe they're right and that the other half are ignorant. People will get butthurt. I personally spent metric shitloads of hours playing, practicing, doing all the pep rallies and fundraisers and extras and I know if anybody was hating on what I was doing it would piss me off since, as a student, I can't control what the band is doing.

Ozzello is a prick
I don't know the man, but from all I've heard this couldn't be further from the truth. But I've never met him
Saying "play louder" means dick. Growing up I went to games sitting in the upper deck right above the visitor's band. I couldn't ever hear the MDB, just the visitor's band. Now in the student section, I can't hear a thing the other band does and the MDB is very loud.
It's just hard to be loud in Bryant Denny
Bashing the band like this just comes off as very ignorant

I have been to all the SEC stadiums sans UK, MU, and A&M. LSU's is the only one you could hear consistently in the stands, but they were directly across the field. You will NEVER hear the MDB in the entire stadium, simply because of stadium size. That is why Tennessee mics their band, which sounds terrible.

The only thing I'm going to say about Ozzello is he dramatically improved the image of the band and the way they present themselves as ambassadors of the university.

i really really want them to play WALK THE DINOSAUR.
shite would be badass. actually started a petition in college that got a couple hundred signatures, never did anything with as it started as a joke at a house party.

I'm not totally againts getting rid of some woodwinds in exchange for some brass. It would help us be louder.........

It's called "Alabama Jubilee" once again we didn't pick it, but it's what we're given to play.

I'm glad someone said this finally. I can never hear the opposing band from our section, no matter how big they are. I also had a chance to visit LSU's band on Saturday night (which was interesting) and I could hardley hear the MDB. I also had a lady come up to me and say that that was the first she could hear us in a long time. I don't know what section she was sitting in, but this sound thing is a problem. It's just the way BDS is set up. I personally think that we need to be behind the endzone like OM, State, and LSU's band (to a degree).

Disclaimer: never been in a band in my life, have no idea what goes into it.
As a fan in the now under 30 crowd. The band during play is fine for the most part. Our fans are not as into the generic cheers than say most Big 10 schools, but they seem fine. Volume is definitely an issue, as in the north end zone you can't hear them.
That being said I really find their halftime shows somewhat strange. I mean Stevie Wonder set this year. Most students don't even know a single Stevie Wonder song. And everyone in my section old and young were scratching their heads at a love song tribute for the LSU game. I wish they would, albeit it a bit selfishly, play more modern songs. Basketcase is the only song they have played that was written after 1980.
Of course this might be because of royalties or whatever, but I have heard the Michigan and Penn state bands mix it up.

What was with the overweight James Bond the first half of the season?
Posted on 11/15/13 at 10:47 pm to pvilleguru
I think I heard people say that he wasn't able to get a spot for that show or something.

No..... No it's not the only one. "All of the Lights" and "Right Above it" are only a few years old.
