Yeah, I'm honestly surprised they still make regular watches. The smartwatch business has had to put a hurting on them.

You have a number of dive watches. That a hobby? Omega is a classic watch.
I’ve been taking watches apart and learning the insides. Fun hobby.

The watch is the only piece of jewelry or accessory that most men wear. There is a definite subculture out there of guys who love watches.

I need a new watch but I’ve never been big into watches. What’s a good watch to look into that has a clean look without to much going on? I’m mostly in office attire and a business setting.

I like watches, I’m just too hard on them. I stopped wearing them years ago ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

I do dive and use them as needed especially the Omega Seamaster.

What would you say you want to spend on one?
Posted on 3/24/20 at 3:57 pm to A-TOWNUAFAN
I get some pretty nice watches through Amazon. I try not to spend more than $100. Just a matter of what you are looking for: color, band type, face shape, etc.

Check out Orient watches. They are quite reasonable and have a good selection of business casual watches. I also like the Citizen Ecodrives. They charge via any light source. Basically they never need to be wound or need a battery change. Cartier has a nice Ronde Solo line that is fairly reasonable, depending on what you would call reasonable.
Personally I would advise you to stay away from quartz watches. Get you an automatic.
Here is a Theorema.
This Bulova is pretty sharp too.
Another Bulova
Tissot
Bulova
Seiko and Pulsar are more than just dime-store watches too. I think that both have Ecodrive options.
Enjoy the hunt.

Anyone have any leads for getting a new Submariner from an AD? I've been in the market for one but understand it has been a matter of waiting lists, etc. Not sure whether the market plunge changed things... Anyway me know if anyone has an AD source like I said.

I get a surprising number of compliments on my Invicta Pro Diver, black face, green bezel. It looks sharp but Invicta Pro Divers are usually cheap enough (under $100 for a quartz movement) that I have one in every color of the rainbow.

Which Patek you want? I’d like the Perpetual Chrono with the Moon phase reference 3970. As if I will ever be able to afford anything like that. Edit: Pretty sure they wouldn’t let me even hold it.
Sweet watch. I usually like the silver look, but I think the gold perpetual is nice.
Calatrava in white gold. Would be my formal watch. But I’ll probably never even touch it. I imagine that if I walked into a Patek dealer, I would probably get shadowed by security. Lol.

Jim, can I call you Jim?
If you like that particular watch, Cartier has some stuff out that is pretty similar. The new Ronde Solo looks great and has that same platinum/stainless steel look. They are pretty reasonable as well. You could get a gold Ronde Louis for your formal watch and the Solo for daily wear.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Yeah, for an inexpensive, nice looking watch, Citizen and Seiko make some really good options. That eco drive by Citizen is pretty cool. If you want to spend a bit more, a TAG is a good one. I have a TAG as my second watch that I hardly ever wear anymore. I fell in love with that Breitling and wear it almost all the time.

I like that American Clipper by Bulova. I’m partial to white or black face

Jim or Lizard King. Either works. Lol.
I don’t normally like Cartier, but the ronde Louis is nice.
I almost bought a used calibre de Cartier a couple of years ago.
But it’s would be hard for me to get as much use out a watch as I do my sub. Aesthetically, I like the omega planet ocean - black face - better, but it would be hard for me to trade in a Rolex for it.

Orient has done some great things with homage watches. You can likely find something like that Patek.
Take a look at these and see if you aren't impressed.
Edit: Yes, hold onto that Submariner. Unless you trade for another one.
