My take: the deep ball was there whenever we wanted to take a shot. We took a few but FSU refused to respect it. You need to make them pay for that. Where were the intermediate routes? They were almost nonexistent last night. I think it is important to get Jalen (any QB for that matter) comfortable and in rhythm early. You do that with short easy throws to the backs and TEs and maybe some slants. We totally underutilized that segment of the passing game.
Jalen gives up on a route too quick. He was definitely pressured too much and had to take off too often but don't give up on the play immediately. Keep scanning those receivers. When he scrambles, the defense reacts and people come open.
OL has work to do. They showed they are talented but way too many blown assignments and confusion. Ditto the backs in pass pro. Except for Damien Harris who showed repeatedly why he is the starter. I admit it, I'm guilty of it too. I don't appreciate him enough. All he does is do his job and he does it better and more consistently than all the other studs we have. Bo was very meh last night. Is he 100%? After last night I'm not so sure. Najee looked like a freshman making his first appearance against a top defense.

Receivers continue to be the Ridley show and nobody else. The freshmen showed some flashes of ability but we need more consistent play from someone not wearing 3.

Defense was as solid as ever. We made FSU one dimensional early and gradually took that dimension away. DBs still don't find the ball. Saban needs to stay away from them. He's the one constant there besides poor ball skills. Pass rush is ordinary from the DL. Frazier and Raekwon were the highlights and they are backups. LB is solid and deep. The depth is being tested early with injuries.

Special teams were the difference in the game. Every facet was good except for Papanastos. He's just so inconsistent. The last field goal was his best kick. It looked good and you knew where it was going. Everything else was a knuckle ball that even he didn't know where it would land. A FG will be a dice roll this year.

Glad to get the win, it wasn't easy. I hope Francois is ok. Now let's go back to work and get better. The conference looks tough as usual.

just had a heated conversation over hurts. dude thinks jalen should be moved to rb, says he is not a qb. totally ignored the pressure jalen was under. said he is run first regardless guy.

personally, i think jalen is still a work in progress. yes he runs to quickly at times. no he doesnt look of ridley for other receivers, yet. unless i missed it, he didnt target foster a single time last night. of course our first down play calling was fairly predictable so we were behind the chains most of the time. i think jalen will improve as the team improves, i hope.

By "freestyling" I meant the RPO plays. I appreciate his ability to run and to avoid sacks, and admittedly that's what he was forced to do a lot of Saturday night.

My point was that when you've got a RB that's lighting them up, using great vision to exploit the holes opened by the OL, don't keep falling back on your QB to try running to the outside against their fast defense.

Was I dreaming or did I wake up to someone with a breakdown of the play by play offensively for the game with personnel groupings? I can't find it now.

Found it. I thought it was each play but overall breakdown.

I wish there was a skycam for every game. I would set up a second tv or monitor on a 5 second delay.
