This team was close. Lost all their games by 7 or less. Have to wonder how they would have finished if they pulled the LSU game out.

I was at the Mississippi State game and always remember walking out and being heckled by drunk fans screaming and laughing about how we over payed for CNS - little did those arse holes know.

I went to that game too and I don't remember much but the sad little "flyover" that looked like a stick of gum above the stadium before the game and of course the head pounding cowbells. I don't remember much shite talking from them though. The only good part of that day was listening to the UGA/AU game on the way back and UGA was taking it to the barn

The last game that I ever attended with my FIL was the La Monroe game. Said that he just couldn’t walk the stairs anymore.

We had a 4th and 4 to beat LSU and we gave up a TD. We stop them there and I honestly think we would have won the West.

The 2007 Arkansas game was one of the best experiences of my rather unfortunate undergraduate tenure w/r/t football.

The 2006-2007 Alabama men's basketball team, led by head coach Mark Gottfried, embarked on a season that would be defined by both triumphs and challenges. Comprising a mix of seasoned veterans and emerging talents, the team aimed to make its mark in the highly competitive landscape of college basketball. In this detailed exploration, we will delve into the team's composition, key players, notable games, obstacles faced, and the lasting impact on the Alabama basketball program.

Team Composition:

The roster for the 2006-2007 Alabama basketball team showcased a combination of experienced seniors and promising underclassmen. Key players included senior guard Ronald Steele, who had established himself as a dynamic playmaker and leader on the court. Joining him were seniors Jermareo Davidson and Alonzo Gee, providing a strong foundation for the team.

Coach Mark Gottfried, in his ninth season at the helm of the program, had built a reputation as a respected leader. His tenure had seen the Crimson Tide experience both successes and challenges, and the 2006-2007 season would be another chapter in the ongoing narrative of Alabama basketball.

Key Players:

Ronald Steele (Guard): As a senior, Steele was the heart and soul of the team. Known for his scoring ability, playmaking skills, and leadership, he played a pivotal role in the success of the Crimson Tide. However, injuries would impact his availability during the season, posing a significant challenge for the team.

Jermareo Davidson (Forward): Another senior, Davidson was a force in the frontcourt. His scoring, rebounding, and shot-blocking capabilities made him a key player for the Crimson Tide. Davidson's presence in the paint provided a defensive anchor and added versatility to the team.

Alonzo Gee (Guard/Forward): A senior, Gee brought a combination of scoring and defensive skills to the team. His ability to contribute in multiple facets of the game made him a valuable asset for the Crimson Tide.

The blend of experienced seniors and emerging talents provided a balanced and competitive roster for the 2006-2007 season. The team's success would hinge on the ability of these key players to stay healthy, perform consistently, and guide their younger teammates.

The season presented its challenges, including a significant injury to star player Ronald Steele. Injuries and setbacks tested the team's depth and resilience, requiring other players to step up in the face of adversity.

Challenges and Resilience:

The 2006-2007 season was not without its challenges, and one of the most significant obstacles faced by the Crimson Tide was the injury to Ronald Steele. The senior guard, who was a vital component of the team's success, battled through knee injuries that impacted his availability on the court. Steele's limited playing time and diminished effectiveness due to injuries posed a considerable challenge for the team.

In the face of adversity, other players had to step up to fill the void left by Steele's absence. The leadership of seniors like Jermareo Davidson and Alonzo Gee became even more crucial, and the younger players on the roster had to mature quickly to contribute meaningfully to the team's success.

Despite the challenges, the Crimson Tide displayed resilience. The ability to adapt to adversity, overcome setbacks, and continue competing at a high level showcased the character of the players and the coaching staff. Coach Mark Gottfried faced the task of keeping the team focused and motivated, emphasizing the importance of a collective effort in navigating through difficult circumstances.

Postseason and Legacy:

The regular season set the stage for the postseason, where the Crimson Tide aimed to make a statement in the SEC Tournament and potentially secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament. The team's performance in the SEC Tournament would be a crucial factor in determining their postseason fate and the legacy they would leave for the 2006-2007 season.

Alabama's journey in the SEC Tournament showcased their competitive spirit in a tough loss to Kentucky. They then moved on to the NIT where they lost a close, hard fought game to UMass on the road.

The legacy of the 2006-2007 Alabama men's basketball team extends beyond wins and losses. The season is remembered for the resilience displayed in the face of adversity, the leadership of key players, and the collective effort of the entire team, even in the absence of an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Conclusion:

The 2006-2007 Alabama men's basketball team's journey was one of highs and lows, challenges, and triumphs. The blend of experienced seniors and emerging talents created a competitive and dynamic roster.

The challenges, particularly the injury to star player Ronald Steele, tested the team's depth and character. The ability to overcome adversity, adapt to setbacks, and continue competing at a high level defined the Crimson Tide's season.

The legacy of the 2006-2007 Alabama men's basketball team is one of determination, leadership, and collective effort. The lessons learned and experiences gained during that season contribute to the rich tapestry of Alabama basketball history. The players and coaching staff left an indelible mark, showcasing the program's ability to navigate adversity and compete at the highest level, even in the absence of an NCAA Tournament appearance.

It really was. We can discuss some other sports like softball, baseball, swimming, gymnastic, etc from 2007 in this thread as well. I'll do my best to share the information and get it rolling.

One of the last truly disappointing years for Sarah Patterson and Gymnastics. Terrible finish to the year missing the finals given their talent on paper.

She would never miss the Super Six again and add 2 more National Titles before hanging it up in 2014.
