I thought Morris and Barnett looked the best. Morris made the most big time throws. Barnett just looked really poised and comfortable.

I'd put Coker and Cornwell next. Neither were terribly accurate IMO.

I'd rate Bateman's performance last. Late throws and bad decisions led to a few picks.

I'm not saying he's going to win the job, but it's past time to let go of this "Morris is s back-up punter" notion. He punted in one A-day because Scott wasn't enrolled yet. That's all it was.

I think Morris is a guy you make a decision on regarding what you need out of the QB position after surveying your team. If you need someone to just complete the team, he could very well be the guy. He was the only QB at A-Day not to throw an INT, take that as you will. He's careful with the ball, but hopefully not to a point of timidity.

He's built well, knows the roster, and has been coached on Saban's offensive philosophy the longest.

Now if you deem this team in need of a gunslinger back there to generate plays, Coker might have be the guy. Just have to take the good with the bad, and I'm sure there would be a bit of it if he doesn't improve.

How the talent develops around the QB will play a role too...

Agreed. I just think there's a stigma still attached to Morris because he filled in as punter for one spring game. Of course it's also possible to read too much into one open practice in which he looked better than Coker and Cornwell. Could be an anomaly.

Morris wiil play the role of a stabilizer at QB if things start to go haywire at that position. If Coker lays an egg and Cornwell doesn't look ready then it will be Morris who will lead us.He is probably a better QB than several we have had. As to the punter reference, that is laughable and the first time I Have heard it mentioned. Many outstanding QB's have served as backup punters.

It's fan day. If the public picked a starter off an open practice we would be fricked

When I look back to last season and how posters on this forum and other forums were begging.... no demanding Coker play over Sims... I just laugh.

I'm still waiting for Coker to prove what FSU's entire staff said he was.

I predicted him to win the job this year.

While I probably won't be right, Morris isn't chopped liver.

Morris is the John Kasich of the bunch.

What are Morris' limitation? Weak arm? I know he isn't very mobile, but if he seems to make the best decisions I was wondering what other attributes are holding him back.

I would say that he is comparable to Gregor McElroy. I think that they even played at the same high school, and Morris broke some of his records.

I didn't attend fan day this year, but last year I noticed that Morris lacked touch on his passes. He just gunned them in, which would cause a lot of drops by his receiver.

Morris played at Allen, McElroy played at Westlake Carroll. Both huge Texas HS football factories.

I think the limitation on Morris is that he's nothing special. The more he has to do, the less effective he'll likely be.

Sims said Morris pointed out several things last year as far exploiting a specific defense to him. Knows the playbook better than the rest per Sims too. Called him the best leader off the field/on the sideline.

He is definitely a "player's player."

Morris and Bateman both fit this profile. Sims was cut from a similar cloth as well. I respect each of those guys for their dedication, focus, and loyalty to the overall team.

that, sir, IS COMPLETELY INSANE!

coker and/or cornwell and even bateman, will be fine. one of em are gonna win the job and be gtg.

good grief. its not like we play in 3 step air raid. our qbs have to know how to play the game, itll be fine.

Barnett made some throws none of the other could while escaping pressure. Not sure how this will play out but he and Morris look much better than Coker and Cornwell.

Morris has a strong arm and good sense, he has never made football a priority like the others, hence why he doesn't play. That may change.

Barnett actually has a chance here.

I get the sense we may have done more tinkering with the offense...

From what I've read, I think the plan is to get back to knocking people off the ball and running whether the other team likes it or not. Or maybe that's just me hoping. Either way, I know they'll still incorporate a lot of the passing stuff from Kiffen.
