Two weeks later
4 playoff games if you make it to the championship (unless you are ranked 1-4)
Appears to be 10 days between playoff games
17 total game season ending late January

It you are perennially good and likely to make the playoff every year, that’s a lot of games.

You may have to play the conference championship opponent twice to win it all.

This seems like a lot of wear and tear on players and greater chance for injury.
