Those sentences mean that he is good at getting play makers isolated and getting the match ups he wants, he's not good at calling a play sequence that keeps things in rhythm and using what works. For instance, tonight the run was working and he starts calling pass plays.

No the run worked because Bama has shown a shite ton of success passing the ball on film. He is a master at taking advantage of mismatches, that is why he kept passing on Sat and then the 3 or 4 running plays in the sequence with Henry went for huge gains and a long TD run. Saban bitched him out in the 1st half because Saban wanted to take the air out of the ball and wind the clock down when Bama was up for obvious reasons (how dangerous AU on O was) and Lane Im sure just told him he was calling plays to take advantage of mismatches, everything he did at the end of the 1st half seemingly not working and Bama's O getting stuffed were set-up plays for the onslaught in the 2nd half. That 70 or so yd TD pass to Coop on a snake route was set up by Coop running what we called Circus Wheels slanting inside to a go then breaking to the flag (essentially making a "C") then on that play AU was playing Cover 2 with a 1 deep S and Coop slanted turned to a go, got the DBs head turned because of the previous series, then broke toward the post inside and as you could see was wide open.

The ridiculous amount of receiving yards Amari has this year isn't a fluke or of his own YAC (like Julio basically had to do) and with all the receiving yds Coop had, Yeldon STILL had over 100 yds rushing and a TD, Henry had over 50 and a TD. His playcalling in my mind has been magnificent, we have the SECs leading WR and 2nd in the country, he's getting the ball to the Os best player with a QB everyone expected to not even be starting this year.

My hat is off to Lane

IF he stays long enough to work with Barnett.......part the Red Sea Moses the Tide will be coming in regardless.

Whoever wins the eventual Barnett/Cornwell battle will be our first 4000 yard passer if Kiffin is still here. We keep bringing in insane amounts of talent, we'll possibly be playing 15 games, etc.

Kiffin has made Blake Sims a 2,988 yard passer through 12 games. Sims is on pace for 3,735 yards through 15 games. No matter how much we all love Sims, we know he isn't the most talented passer. Kiffin has made him one of the top statistical QBs in the Power 5.

I don't know how long we keep Kiffin, I still think we can hold onto him for one more season, but I just hope whenever he does leave we bring in another really good OC.
