Where do you think he goes as a HC?

I'll say Kansas or somewhere like that.

He'll get a better job than Kansas. I think he's earned it.

What big job will come open?

I could see Texas A&M firing sumlin.

LSU fire miles. But couldn't see LSU hiring kiffin.

I'm not familiar enough with the hot seats in the PAC12.

I'm sure something in the BIG10 will open.

The BIG12 prominent jobs at Texas Oklahoma and WV won't come open.

Lovie Smith signed on with Illinois and that's not an amazing job.

I just don't see him getting anything more than aTm.

I also think he can and will do better than a bottom of the barrel Kansas job. Probably a Arizona tier gig. End of the day CNS ain't kicking him out, and he can stay until he chooses to be a HC in a good spot for him.

If Lane picks the wrong HC gig, his career as a HC is over. He doesn't have many mulligans left in that department. He'd be wise to do what Kirby did...wait patiently until a solid Power-5 program is ready to take a chance with him. A place like Kansas would bury is career. He needs a program like Cal, Miami or UNC to take a chance and then he needs to knock it out of the park in order to land an elite job like Alabama, Florida, etc.

It's also conceivable that Lane is one of those guys that's just better as a coordinator sort of like Chavis, Chizik, Charley Wiess, Bud Foster, etc. If that's the case, he'd do well to swallow his pride and be the best OC in the nation. I'm guessing he wants to give it one more shot though and I can't blame him.

I could see him staying like Kirby did until the right job for him opens. Could have been part of his divorce. His wife may not have taken the news he would stay as long as it took well. I agree he deserves more than a Kansas type job but if he wants one next year then he may not get a big name one other than aTm at best. I think Missouri would be a good fit but they just hired someone this year. No job in the BIG10 Is great outside the Wisconsin Nebraska OSU MICH PSU jobs. PSU is the only one with a possible hot seat. BIG12 good jobs UT OU WV are entrenched. Not really sure about the PAC12. RIch Rod at Arizona, the dude at ASU, Mora UCLA, Peterson at Washington, Utah coach, not USC, not Stanford, maybe Cal? But he was just at USC. As far as the ACC maybe NCSt, not UNC, not VT, not Miami, not Clemson, not FSU. North Carolina would be good but fedora turned it around. So idk where he would fit in.

Yeah he needs to stay until a program who is accustomed to a flashy offense comes along and wants to take a chance. The best thing kiffin could do when he gets his chance is to hire a DC that is a can't miss and let him do his own thing.

That damn Kansas job is basically career suicide. Turner Gill was "a hot, up and coming head coach" until he took that job.

He's not getting a top tier job. A Kansas St, Oregon St, NC State, Virginia type job. A lower tier Power 5 school.

If Texas isn't significantly better in '16, most people think Strong will be fired. Not saying they'll come after CLK, but that is one top job that could very well open up

I think there will be a higher chance of him staying another year. He really wants to coach Barnett and I think he do like Kirby did and wait for a great job to open up.

I think he's at Bama until Saban retires.

Kiffin is back doing what he loves and is having fun doing it. Who would have thought that Kiffin would be Saban's OC?

This might be a stretch, but I could see him being hired away by Georgia to be their new OC before he goes back to be a HC. It seemed like he and Kirby hit it off pretty well and I think Kirby as HC would allow him a little more latitude than Saban currently does.

It would also give him a chance to prove he can do it without the machine that Saban has built. Just my two cents.

Tom Herman is going to take that job after this season.
