Believe it or not, despite winning a TON of positional defensive awards, Alabama had not yet had a player win overall defensive player (Nagurski or Bednarik)
Both of those awards started in the early 90's which is why.

Jonathan Allen will be the first thing out of Coach Saban's mouth when juniors on the edge of the first round talk to him about coming out early.
