Joe Tess says on SportsCenter that @AlabamaFTBL DL Jonathan Allen is 5th in Heisman voting, albeit a big gap behind the Top 4 #Heismanology

Nice... would be cool to see him as a finalist.

You can't expect any defensive player to win. But just to be invited is an honor. He keeps it up, he'll be a top 5 pick. He's gotta be the most well rounded D lineman we've had under Saban.

Posted a thread already on Rant. Was going to troll a little but decided not to as the next two weeks are already started to get bad. But he leads all SEC players in the current race.

When Joe Tess was on the radio this morning they were comparing Allen to Suh and through 8 games Allen is even or ahead of him and Suh finished the season I think they said with 1 Int and no return yards where Allen already has 2 TDs and 105 returns yards.

Suh had like 85 tackles in 09, which is ridiculous for a DL. Only had like 12 sacks though.

Such was absolutely outrageous. The man nearly won them the Big 12 championship by himself.

In 2009, Suh registered 85 tackles, 12 quarterback sacks, 28 quarterback hurries, 24 tackles for loss, 10 pass breakups, 3 blocked kicks, and 1 interception. Suh had 12 tackles (seven for losses, a school single-game record) and 4½ sacks in a 13–12 loss to the Texas Longhorns in the Big 12 Championship Game,

That was a big game for him but all he did was soften Colt up for Dareus.

He is easily the best dlineman in college football. Nobody plays both the run and pass as good as Jon Allen. Would dominate as an end or a 4-3 tackle. Add in his other intangibles and he may be the best defensive guy around.

For a defensive player to win it he must
1. Play on the undisputed no.1 team
2. Have insanely crazy numbers like Suh (however Terrell Suggs' 24 sack season didn't earn him a vote)
3. Play in a season with a really weak Heisman race

It's not fair at all. It's only a QB/RB award which makes the award vastly overrated in my opinion.
