Pretty cool that my hometown team will be kicking off the college football season this weekend with a primetime matchup against Chattanooga on ESPN.

The game is at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, oddly enough, but I hope both teams bring a crowd.

Jacksonville State has beaten Chattanooga 4 straight times since 2012, but all 4 of those games went to overtime or were won by a field goal.

I might actually make the drive from Tuscaloosa if the tickets are cheap enough. I can't wait for gamedays.

I attended JSU before I transferred to UA. They had the best drum line in the whole freaking country in those days.

Still have an argument for best drum corp. Their football games draw a crowd at least until halftime, even when the team is performing awful, just because of the band.

And then they basically had the game won at Auburn and choked it away and lost in OT. Auburn fans were so quiet after that

Not on ESPN, and if they were on there going against a better ESPN2 game, I'd be watching ESPN2 or whatever other channel. Let's be real outside of those two teams and a close game... Nobody isn't paying attention to it.

I think a lot of people will pay attention to it because it kicks off a week before the FBS really gets going. I've just never thought lack of talent on the field makes football much less entertaining. Basketball and soccer are the two team sports where I think talent affects the entertainment value the most, and I've seen some very entertaining high school basketball games.
