I feel like they threw in the towel last night even though Vandy only had 4 in the box most of the time.

Did you not hear what Saban said on that?

- With the mix of runs and passes, Saban said a lot of the passing plays were originally called as runs but if Vandy loaded the box, they changed the play to fit the defense.

JMO but it was just another scrimmage that was setup to test out the receivers/pass game before the 2nd season actually starts.

I wish Bama had a TE that was good instead of just average. If so, it would make #9's job so much easier.

My biggest concern is we seem dependent on long runs for our run production. See: Texas

235 YPG and over 7 YPC.

I wish they were more balanced at times. But they are taking what the defense is giving. Vanderbilt loaded up early. Then went to that 3 man front later.

Anyone know how much of the yardage was by qtr? Think we got more yard 3rd and 4th qtr.

Also when they went to the 3 man front why didn't we change the play to a run play?

i am not sure it is all about loading the box but Young was reading the total D on a bunch of RPO's and took what he saw the D giving him. Either way it worked right?

We rushed for almost 230 yards last night for a 6.7 YPC average. What exactly are you complaining about?

I mean, Bama ran for 228 yards and had 628 yards of offense. I don’t see the problem.

We are in a pass-first era. When your QB is your best offensive player that’s what you do.

Thank you! i swear I don't think some people in here ever played or coached a down in their life. Repeat what they hear. Funny to read some of these opinions in here sometimes.

I don't care if we run every play or pass every play. The offense takes what the defense gives it. only a simple minded person thinks it needs to be evenly divided. The score is usually the ultimate judge.

We were killing them. We didn’t need to work on the run game. We needed to work on passing rhythm. So, we did.

Bama just going to abandon the run game

Through 4 games, Bama has 128 rush plays for 940 yds and 142 passing plays for 1130 yds. seems pretty balanced.

They are #1 in conference and #4 in the nation in offensive yds per play. Lead the conference in yds per rush attempt. Ole Miss is 2nd and nearly 2 yds per attempt behind.

It is the pass game that has been far less efficient. It may have been a focal area for this game, but Bama still had is 2nd highest rush attempt total.

That said, scheme for the opponent and adjust to take what the defense is giving you. Not concerned about "abandoning" the run, as nothing indicates we have. I was beginning to get marginally concerned that the passing offense is less productive than it could be. I think Vandy game showed some very positive signs there.
